The Location Field
The location field is an auto-complete field. This means that as you type into it, Flock guesses at the address of the web page you're looking for. The guess is based on the web addresses you've previously typed into the field. If there's more than one possible match, Flock displays the possibilities in a drop down list. To go to one of the addresses in the list, select it.
Tip: The auto-complete feature is so handy, many people use it as a shortcut for finding frequently-visited pages.
The location bar's drop-down menu
You may have noticed the little black triangle at the right end of the location field. That's another drop-down menu. This menu lists all web addresses that you've recently entered into the location field.
To view the list, click the triangle. To go to one of the addresses in the list, select it.
Those little pictures
The location field often contains little pictures: these are favicons and RSS icons.
A favicon, or "Favorites icon," is an icon associated with a particular website or web page. Web designers create these icons to give all the pages from a particular site a common identifier. Flock and other browsers that support favicons display them in the location bar, next to the site's name in lists of favorites, and next to the page's title in a tabs.
An RSS icon indicates that this particular web page has an alternative view, called a feed.
Why does the star turn orange?
The Star button is normally blue, but it turns orange when you're viewing a page that you've designated as a favorite. If you are visiting a site that you would like to come back to, you can click the Star to make this site a favorite. For more about favorites, read Favorite pages.
