Adjusting automatic update
Flock periodically checks for updates to itself and to any extensions, themes and search engines you may have installed. With these automatic updates you always have the most up-to-date versions.
You can change Flock's automatic update feature or view updates that you've already installed from the Updates tab in the Preferences window.
To change your automatic updates settings
- Open the Options or Preferences window.
How you access the window depends upon your operating system.- If you are using Windows, open the Tools menu and choose Options.
- If you are using Linux, open the Edit menu and choose Preferences.
- If you are using Mac OS, open the Flock menu and choose Preferences.
- Click the Advanced tab.
- Click the Update tab.
- Put a checkmark next to the items you want Flock to check for updates. (Most people keep all three checked.)
- Tell Flock what to do when updates to Flock are found.
- Ask me what I want to do: Flock asks for your approval before updating something.
- Automatically download and install the update: Flock updates items without asking you first.
- Warn me if this will disable extensions or themes: sometimes an update to one extension can disable another. This warning lets you reconsider and postpone such an update.
To view your update history
Flock automatically records the updates you install. To view this information, click Show Update History.
Updating Extensions manually
To check for a newer version of extensions you've installed
- Open the Tools menu and choose Add-ons.
- In the Add-ons window there's an Update Now button next to any extension for which an update is available.
- Click the button for the extension you want to update.
For more information on extensions, see Extensions.
