Getting yourself an online photo account

Flock has a built-in photo uploader that helps copy your photos from your camera or computer to your online photo account. Before you can upload photos, you've got to get an online photo account.

Flock supports three online photo services: Flickr, Piczo and Photobucket. You can find more information on setting up an account with any of these services on their web sites. For a complete list of services that Flock supports please visit our website.

  • Flickr - A photo sharing community
  • Piczo - For teens
  • Photobucket - Tools for photo hosting for blogs and comments

Linking up your account with Flock

Once you have an online photo account, you need to tell Flock about it.

To configure your photo account with Flock

  1. Navigate to the photo service that you have an account with.
  2. Log in to your account.
Note: If you were already logged in, please log out and then log back in.
  3. If you've logged in to a service that Flock supports, your login identity will be added to the list of available Accounts and Services.

Once configured, Flock remembers your username and password for one or more photo accounts. To confirm that your account information has been saved, open the accounts and services menu by clicking on the Display Accounts and Services button in the top bar. The button is represented by a picture of a key. If the account was added successfully, the account will appear in the My Accounts section of the Accounts and Services sidebar.

Preparing photos for uploading

You can upload photos from your local machine, or directly from your camera.

To select photos for uploading

  1. In the photo uploader, click Choose Photos.
  2. Navigate to the folder where you keep photos.
  3. Select one or more photos and click Open.

Tip: You can add photos to the uploader directly by dragging the photos from a folder on your machine to the uploader toolbar.

Photos waiting to be uploaded appear as thumbnails in the uploader. If you change your mind and want to remove a photo, select it and click Remove.

  3. When you are done, click OK.
  4. If multiple photos need to be rotated, you can select them all. The changes you make will apply to all of them.

Adding titles, tags, and descriptions

  1. Click to select one or more photos in the uploader.
  2. Enter a title, description, and any tags you want to apply.
If multiple photos are selected, the text you type is applied to all of them.

Uploading photos

Once you are done making adjustments to your photos you must upload them to your photo service before sharing with your friends. If you have more than one photo service, be sure to choose the service from the drop down menu before you upload.

When you're ready to put your photos into your online photos account, click Upload.

In the Upload Settings dialog you have a few options you can adjust. When you're ready, click Upload again. It will take a moment or two for the photos to be uploaded.
