Troubleshooting Problems with Uploading Photos

In this section:

We're hoping that Flock's online photo features will make life online easier. But if you have problems, we'd like to help. Check here for a description of your problem, and follow the step-by-step troubleshooting.

I don't see photos in the Media Bar

  • Is there a keyword in the Media Bar's Filter field?
Highlight the keyword and press Delete to remove it.
  • Perhaps Flock can't find the user name you typed in.
Check the spelling of the user name. If you're sure the spelling is correct, you may need to contact the owner of the account and find out what the story is with his or her photos!
  • Maybe the online photo service is not available at the moment.
It's rare for a service like Flickr or Photobucket to experience long interruptions. Wait a moment or two, and then try again.
  • For Flickr only: Some Flickr users have two user names. Did you type in the right one?
This happens for certain Flickr users who also have Yahoo user names. They must use their Yahoo IDs to log in, and their Flickr IDs for finding their photostreams. Make sure you are typing in the Flickr user name associated with the person's photostream, and not the Yahoo user name.

I just got an online photo account, but my photos aren't showing up in the Media Bar

  • Are you sure you've uploaded some photos?
If your account is brand new, then perhaps you haven't uploaded any photos yet. Read this section for help: Uploading & organizing online photos.
  • Are you sure that your photo account is supported?
A complete list of the web sites that Flock works with is available on our website.

I can't upload any photos

  • Has your online photo account has exceeded its capacity?
You can purchase additional capacity from your online photo service. Go to the service's web site for help.

I tried dragging a photo into an email and all I got was a bunch of code

  • Are you sure your email is web-based?
You can't use the Media Bar to insert an image directly into an email message, unless the email is web-based. But the code you see is the photo's web address, and the recipient of the email can click the address to see the photo.
Note: If your email is web-based, then you use a browser like Flock for viewing, reading, and sending email. If you're using a different program, like Outlook, then your email is not web-based.
