The Favorites Manager

Flock's favorites manager keeps a list of all your favorites. You can use it to view and organize favorites stored on your computer or on a favorites sharing service..

To open the favorites manager, choose Favorites Manager from the Favorites menu.

The favorite manager's left pane lets you group your favorites into folders. Drag a favorite from the right pane to a folder on the left pane in order to change how your favorites are grouped.

In the right pane, favorites are listed by name, URL, tags, date added, etc. You can re-arrange the columns by dragging the column headings back and forth. To choose which columns to view, click the Column Selector.

Keeping track of your favorites with Tags

You can tag favorites in the favorites manager.

1. Highlight the favorite you want to tag.
2. Right-click (Control-click) while pointing to the favorite, and choose Properties from the menu that appears.
3. Enter tags for the favorite, separated by commas or spaces. If your tag has multiple words, enclose them in quotation marks or enter them with no spaces between the words. For example: "Our Next Vacation" or OurNextVacation.
4. When you're done adding tags, click OK.
5. To find all favorites tagged with a particular keyword, type the keyword into the search bar on the top of the Favorites Manager.

To delete a tag, highlight it and press Delete.

Organizing favorites into folders

You can herd your favorites into folders to make them more manageable.

1. If you don't already have folders to organize your favorites into, you can create a new folder by clicking the New Folder button at the top of the favorites manager. When prompted, give your folder a useful name.
2. To add a favorite to a folder, locate the favorite in the Favorites Manager.
3. Drag the favorite to the new folder.

Searching your favorites

You can search the favorites manager for links by adding a word or tag into the search box near the top of the favorites manager window.

To locate a particular favorite, type a search term in the search box in the Favorites Manager. The Favorites Manager displays only those favorites that contain the search term. To further narrow your search, type a space and enter a second search term. The favorites manager then narrows the search to only those favorites that contain both search terms. To restore the favorites manager's display of all the favorites, simply delete the search terms.

Deleting a favorite

There are several ways to get rid of favorites. To remove one or more favorites from a folder:

1. Open the Favorites Manager.
2. Highlight any favorites you want to remove.
3. Right-click (Control-click) and select Delete.

You can also remove an individual favorite while you're on its web page. Right-click (Control-click) the Star button and choose Unstar This Page. (Handy if you've just accidentally starred something.)
