What are topbars?
Flock can display additional features and navigation through Top Bars. Flock's most important Top Bar is the Media Bar, which allows you to search for, discover, and track new photos and videos that are posted to your favorite sites.
To view the Media Bar, select the View menu, then Top Bar > Media Bar. You can also use the Media Bar button in your favorites toolbar. For more information about the Media Bar, see Using the Media Bar.
What are toolbars?
Toolbars are the parts of the Flock window that contain buttons, icons, type-in fields, and other tools that you use when you're working on the Web. The main tool bar is the Navigation bar, which includes the location field where you can type a web address, the buttons used to navigate the Web, and the search field.
The illustration below shows the Nagivation bar. In your browser window (not in the illustration), point to each item on the toolbar. A tooltip appears to tell you what each tool does.
Directly below the Navigation bar is the Favorites bar. The Favorites bar gives you quick access to the most commonly used Flock features.
To hide (or show) a toolbar, open the View menu and choose Toolbars, and then choose the toolbar you want to hide or show. If a toolbar has a checkmark next to its name, it will show.
Adding a new toolbar
To add a toolbar
- Open the View menu and choose Toolbars > Customize.
- Click Add New Toolbar.
- Type a name for the toolbar and click OK.
- Drag items you want to add to your toolbar from the Customize Toolbars dialog, and drop them on the your custom toolbar. It may be hard to see your new toolbar - it's the space below the Top Bar area.
- Click Done.
Special Toolbar Items
There are a few special items available to you when customizing toolbars:
- Separators: These separate items on the toolbars with a small vertical line.
- Spacers: These put a fixed-size space between toolbar items.
- Flexible spacers: These separate items with spacer that resize automatically to fill the empty space on the toolbar. These are good for positioning items on the right of a toolbar.
Adding, removing, and rearranging toolbar items
You can change the items (icons, buttons, text boxes, etc.) on the navigation toolbar, or on a custom toolbar that you've added yourself. You can remove a custom toolbar by removing all the items from it.
