Changing your Home Page
By default, when you start Flock it opens the My World page. You can use the Flock options (preferences) to specify a different web page as your starting page.
To change your home page
- Go to the web page you want opened when you start Flock. If you use tabs, open all the starting pages you want, each in a tab.
- Open the Options or Preferences window.
How you access the window depends upon your operating system.- If you are using Windows, open the Tools menu and choose Options.
- If you are using Linux, open the Edit menu and choose Preferences.
- If you are using Mac OS, open the Flock menu and choose Preferences.
- Select the Main tab.
- Click Use Current Page or Use Current Pages.
Now when you click the Home button (the one that looks like a house), your favorite web sites appear in tabs.
If you change your home page to something other than My World and later decide that you would like to switch back, you can change your home page to the My World page as follows.
- In the home page field, change your default home page to be "about:myworld".
- Click OK.
Specifying Flock as your default browser
Click to put a check next to "Always check to see if Flock is the default browser on startup," and click OK.
Telling other browsers they are no longer default
After making this change, the first time you open the browser that was previously default you will probably see a warning that it is no longer the default browser. Usually in that dialog you can turn off the warning.
Sometimes, though, you have to be more assertive in breaking the news to the previously default browser. If you still see a warning message, follow the instructions below.
For Opera:
- Start Opera, then open the preferences window (as explained above).
- In the preferences window, click the Advanced tab.
- Click Programs on the left side in the Preferences window.
- Uncheck the box for "Check if Opera is the default browser on startup".
- Click OK.
For Firefox:
- Start Firefox, then open the preferences window (as explained above).
- In the preferences window, click the General tab.
- Uncheck the box for "Firefox should check to see if it is the default browser".
- Click OK.
For Safari:
- Start Safari, then open the preferences window (as explained above).
- Click General in the Preferences window.
- From the Default Web Browser menu, choose Flock.
For Netscape:
- Start Netscape, then open the preferences window (as explained above).
- Click General in the Preferences window.
- Uncheck the box for "Netscape should check to see if it is the default browser".
- Click OK.
