Tune Up Your Flock!

The following 4 simple steps will unlock all the power of Flock

Run it Clean1. RUN IT CLEAN
The best way to ensure the very best speed and performance is to disable any extensions you have and turn them back on one-by-one. In this way you can observe any negative impact your extensions, or your combination of extensions, may be having.

Click for detailed instructions.

Disable extensions by doing the following:

  1. Open the Tools menu
  2. Click "Add-Ons"
  3. Go to the "Extensions" tab
  4. Click "Disable" for each extension

Ligten the Load2. LIGHTEN THE LOAD
Flock's Feeds Sidebar is tuned to ensure that it doesn't interfere with your browser's performance. But if you have any feeds you're no longer using, try removing them. Carrying too much in the trunk can slow any car down.

Click for detailed instructions.

To delete a feed:

  1. Open the Feeds sidebar
  2. "Right-click" (ctrl-click on Mac) a feed
  3. Choose "Delete"

Reset Your Odometer3. RESET YOUR ODOMETER
If you're running clean and have lightened your load, Flock should now be flying down the road. If not, we recommend you reset your odometer by deleting a file.

Click for detailed instructions.

  2. Go to C:\Documents and Settings\[your user name]\Application Data\Flock\Browser\Profiles\[some numbers and letters].default
  3. Delete the folder called "lucene"

Click for detailed instructions.

Please note that by taking this next step you will be removing your personal information and starting fresh (this will remove all your passwords, feeds, favorites, media streams, settings, etc).  You have the option to preserve your favorites and feeds if you wish (directions below).

If you have feeds that you'd like to keep, you can export them before resetting your profile:

  1. Open the Feeds sidebar
  2. Click "Feed Options"
  3. Click "Export feeds"
  4. Choose a name and click "Save"
  5. Once you've removed your profile, follow the same path and choose "Import" to re-import your feeds.

If you have favorites that you'd like to keep, you can export them as well:

  1. Open the Favorites menu
  2. Click "Organize Favorites"
  3. Open the "Import and Backup" menu
  4. Choose "Export HTML"
  5. Choose a name and click "Save"
  6. Once you've removed your profile, follow the same path and choose "Import" to re-import your favorites.

Unfortunately, there is not currently a way to export Favorited Media Streams.
