How do I turn off the Facebook Chat feature in Flock?

If you'd like to get rid of the Facebook Chat features in the Flock browser (not the actual feature on Facebook.com), follow these instructions:

  1. Type "about:config" (minus the quotation marks) into the address bar

  2. Read the warning, and at your own discretion, proceed. Please be careful, as tweaking the wrong setting here could damage your browser.
  3. In the Filter area of the config page, type in "flock.service.facebook.chat.enabled" (again, minus the quotation marks)
  4. Double click the entry that shows up: this should set the value to "false"
  5. Restart Flock.

I have multiple Twitter accounts. Why does Flock sometimes switch between them without asking?

If you have two Twitter accounts, Flock will sometimes get confused and switch between them. To avoid this, make sure that when you log out of one Twitter account, you do so via the People sidebar. If you only log out via the Twitter webpage, Flock will not necessarily realize you logged out.

If you continue to experience issues, do the following:

  1. In the Accounts & Services Sidebar, "Remember" both accounts
  2. Log out of Twitter
  3. In the Accounts & Services Sidebar, "Forget" both accounts
  4. Restart your computer

Why does the People sidebar always say I have new Direct Messages on Twitter?

Twitter has no concept of read/unread for Direct Messages. Flock is accurately reflecting this by showing the total number of Direct Messages you have in the People sidebar. You can either delete direct messages to lower this number or contact Twitter and request that they add read/unread status for Direct Messages.

Update: We've built in a workaround for this in Flock 2.5. Get it now!
