Flock 2.0b1 Release Notes and Known Issues
Flock 2 includes all of the award-winning Flock features that people are raving about, PLUS all of the enhancements introduced by the latest Firefox 3 technology from Mozilla, and MORE!
These Release Notes contain information about what's new in this release as well as known issues that we'd like you to be aware of. A couple of things for you to be aware of as you take the release out for a test flight:
- A bug icon is available in the top right corner of the browser. Click this to let us know about any issues or to tell us what you think about the product.
- Flock 1.0, 1.1, 1.2 and Flock 2.0 beta 1 users share the same profile folder, so all favorites, feeds, media streams, accounts and history should migrate when users install and run either version.
- Flock 1.2 (and older) users will not have their favorite bookmarks available in Flock 2.0. To get your bookmarks, reinstall and run the older version of Flock, export your bookmarks, install and run Flock 2.0, and import them.
- Themes from other versions of Flock (Eco and Netscape Editions) will not migrate to Flock 2.0 beta 1. Reinstall the Flock edition with the packaged theme if you want it back.
Known Issues
General Issues
- Mac Tiger and Leopard users may experience first run crashes.
- Users installing 1.2.x version after installing Flock 2.0 beta 1 may notice a broken Accounts and Services sidebar. Simply close and open the sidebar to correct the problem.

- Mac users using “File, Close Tab” closes the main browser window in some cases.
- Some shortcut keys in Mac and Vista may not work properly.

- Any bookmarks added while using Flock 2.0 beta 1 will not migrate back to a previous version of Flock.
- Users migrating from Eco edition of Flock will loose bookmarks on migration.
- Imported Livemarks from Firefox 3 will display incorrect icons in the toolbar, and the drop down list of feeds.
- Users with queued photos into the Uploader who migrate from Flock 1.x to Flock 2.0 will have to re-add their photos.
People Issues
- Digg will have delayed updates in the People Sidebar and My World.
- The friend comments notification in Digg’s me card may display a different number of comments than what exists on the Digg comments page.
- When logging into a People service (e.g. Facebook, Digg, Twitter), the updates from that service will fill the contents of the Friend Activity Feed, and any updates from other services will not be visible for a time. Over time the list will fill with updates from other People services.
Webmail Issues

Media, Media bar and Uploader Issues
- Users of Mac OS 10.4.x may see the Flock Magic overlay remain even when moving the mouse away from the media.
- A limitation on the YouTube API will not light up a friend’s new media notifications in the People sidebar.
- When users hover over Flickr videos, the media overlay will not appear.
- A limitation with the YouTube API only allows users to display ten of their favorites in the media bar after clicking My Favorites button on YouTube me card.
- When dragging YouTube videos from the media bar to a Hotmail email body, the receipient of the email may not be able to click the link.
- A Flickr API limitation causes media bar display of the lock icon for private photos to be missing.
- When using the Flock Uploader to Picasa, special characters in the filename will not appear properly on the site.
- Renamed media stream folders will appear as ‘New Folder’ in the Favorites menu.
- In cases when adding and removing streams in media stream folders, the folder may still appear in the Favorites menu.
- Windows users tagging images in the Uploader, then double clicking the image may see duplicate names in the drop down list
- Uploaded photos to Picasa will inherit the timestamp of the album they are added to.
Other Issues
- When logging into two blog services (and one is Wordpress), the Blog Editor's Publish Information dialog may have a zero-height categories field.
- Youtube RSS discovery may light up when there is no RSS feed available.
- Vista users may see the RSS icon in the Flockbar glow when there is no new feed content.
- Clicking an RSS feed in the feed reader does not mark the article as read.
- Those users logged into YouTube with their Google account, then navigate to Gmail will see a log out notification. To activate Gmail, users will then have to logout of Gmail, and log back in with the same Google account.
