It’s been a tremendous year for Flock so far. We just hit a really nice milestone that we’d like to share with everyone. Flock just exceeded 2 million total users on Facebook. Of total Flock users, those who are active on Facebook have grown 280% in the first three quarters of 2009. We are honored to have this many people from around the world electing to make the switch to experience the social web with Flock as their browser of choice.
We appreciate Facebook, and all of its loyal fans worldwide for helping spread the word about Flock. Flock is an independent effort, and as such we are even more critically dependent on our fans to spread the word about the Flock browser. We are humbled and honored by this vote of confidence and look forward to evolving the Flock product to continually improve the web experience for our fans.
We have listened and learned from you – our invaluable community of users. And our team is busy building and is incredibly excited about delivering an even greater experience for our users in our next version of Flock 3.0, which is scheduled for release in Q1 2010. Flock 3.0 will first be made available early next year as a private beta to those users of our current release. More to come soon on this incredibly exciting project.
When will there be the next version of Flock in french langage? Do we have to wait for the Flock 3.0 for it or will there be a french Flock in the 2.5.2 version?
@Jan
We have a lot of exciting developments we're anxious to reveal about the Flock 3 user experience, along with technical details about 'how' it will be delivered...but we're not going to reveal these details until we're ready to demo. If you're interested, please send an email to "flock3beta at flock.com" so that we can put you on the list as soon as we're ready to kick off our private beta.
Thanks for your interest. It'll be well worth the wait.

@None and Mark Adhans: I believe that French and Portuguese localizations for Flock 2.5 are in progress. However, we can always use more volunteers, so if you'd like to help out (no programming skills necessary) email: bryan at flock dot com
@merim: Private mode is something that will definitely be in Flock 3. As for favorites management - we're definitely looking to make it easy, and I'm looking forward to your feedback on it once Flock 3 is available!
@henchman: Facebook? What's that? :) While we probably should update our share widget, the easiest way to share this story on Facebook is simply to drag the URL of this blog post to your status in the People Sidebar. It'll stick the URL in there, and then you hit post. Nifty, eh?

Will Flock 3.0 utilize a next-generation javascript engine such as TraceMonkey or V8? All social network sites run a ton of javascript, and I've switched over to Firefox 3.5 and Chrome from Flock for all social media because it's simply much faster rendering-wise, even if Flock does provide a ton of features usability-wise. I'd rather have both with Flock.

Yes - it would be if I had a people sidebar still... it wont work?
Running Windows XP - and have resorted to mainly running Safari for speed and in frustration over freezing issues.
I love Flock but hoping this is resolved in 3

Try out the Sharethis Firefox add-on. It works beautifully with Flock and allows you to post articles to your newsfeed or direct messages on Facebook, Twitter Myspace. Blogs etc etc Literally tons of places with your choice of any available thumbnail images intact. Yeah you can drag and drop a url to your status but sharethis allows it to be done more eloquently than that. Sorry guys, in this instance, it's true so far!

I just found Flock... I know late but hey better late than never, since i have installed it with in the last hour i have sent out a msg to all my freinds email and facebook to check this out so much better than the IE i was using.
How comfortable is Flock with Safari. Do they work well on the same machine or are there problems. I am on a Mac/Safari and FB is a constant problems there. While I enjoy some of their applications and a large number of my friends are there I do not enjoy the problems the site seems to generate. I have been assuming that most are because they do not have enough servers for the traffic but you know what they say about assuming.

I been using flock for over a year. I absolutely love it.
It's built on the Mozilla firefox core and the same web browsing security.
I love the side bar showing all my Facebook and myspace, twitter friends and their recent comments. You can even see your youtube friends and other blog friends. It doesn't crash. it runs stable. You can also use the "about:plugins" functions to see your broswer resources.
@Vince: Flock should not leak memory any more than Firefox. If you're experiencing abnormal slowness, please shoot me an email so we can troubleshoot.
@Cool Cmsc: I couldn't agree more. :) That's exactly how we're approaching it.
@yenny heryanto: Flock is available for Windows Xp and Vista. Simply download it from the homepage and run the installer. Please let me know if you run into any issues!
@Barara: Flock should not conflict with Safari at all and nobody has ever reported it doing so.
@Yusa: We'd love to have a Bahasa localization! If you're interested in helping us out (no programming skills necessary) please email bryan at flock dot com

Will Flock 3.0 leverage Mozilla/Firefox codebase or utilize Webkit/Chromum?

I started using Flock seven months back. I am very happy with it. Especially the inbuilt feed reader fascinates me the most
@Jacob Something: Flock will definitely use a next-generation Javascript engine.
@Fiona: You shouldn't have to wait for Flock 3 for those features to work. Shoot me an email and I will troubleshoot with you.

Now, he did not tell us what would be new on FLOCK 3.0, we hope we can have new, cool, innovated features. he should make a preview! :D
As much as I love and prefer Flock, can we finally do something about memory leakage?
