I have Flock 1.2.4 installed as my web browser having updated from 1.2.3
I am trying to set Google reader as my feed reader. My problem is when I open the options window, (on the PC - Tools, Options,Feeds) I am unable to high-light google as the preferred option. The option is there but I cannot select it. I can select any of the other options. I have signed out of the newly created Google account and then signed back in, but got the same result.
Can anyone suggest a solution for me - it is important that I use Google and not any of the others for my reader.
Thanks,
Frank

I have not used Flock 1.2.4. I have instead been using Flock's beta, version 2.0 beta 2. I am able to set Google Reader as the default feed reader, so that when I click on feed links, Google reader prompts me to add the feed.
You can read more about Flock 2.0 beta 2, or go directly to the beta 2 download page. While I have not had problems with the beta, I would suggest backing up your profile before installing the beta. Instructions are on the download page.
Once Flock 2.0 beta 2 is installed, here's how to make Google Reader your default feed reader: Tools->Options->Applications tab. Scroll down to "Web Feed," and select your preferred feed reader.
Hope this helps.

Hi Chris:
Thanks for that information - I will probably go ahead and try Flock 2. Hopefully this will solve the problem with Google reader.

I've installed flock 2.0 beta on linux, and when I want to select the preferred feed reader, the preferences window changes to the Applications tab, where the list is empty.

Hi Edem,
This issue has been discussed at http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?pid=394288 and http://bugs.archlinux.org/task/10419.
It's a problem with the operating system missing a component that the browser requires to identify which programs it should use to handle various tasks. Currently this bug affects both Flock and Firefox.
Please check the links provided, as they list several solutions, depending on which variant of Linux you have. Please let me know how this goes.
Thanks so much,
Jen Anderberg
