Hello all,
With all of the attention around the imminent release of Mozilla’s Firefox 3 technology, we’ve been beaming with enthusiasm about what’s in store for Flock fans. Last night, we pushed our public beta (one) of Flock 2 live. Flock 2 incorporates all of the latest features found in Flock’s recent public release, but it runs on the latest and greatest Firefox 3 technology from Mozilla. So now you don’t have to abandon your love affair with your new favorite browser to check out the latest performance, security and feature enhancements from Mozilla. We’ve got them all right here for you!
Flock 2 is FAST. Manages memory better, and is more secure, thanks to Mozilla’s Firefox 3 technology.
As with all beta software, you might experience some imperfections. We’ve all been running the Flock 2 beta internally for several months, gathering our notes and fixing these imperfections as they arise, but now we could really use your assistance to make Flock 2 the only choice for those that refuse to stand still, and refuse to accept a world in which their browser just browses for them.
The Flock 2 beta marks a very important watershed moment for us. And we have some amazing things planned for the remainder of the year, so please help us refine this product by running Flock 2 beta (one), and logging imperfections by using the ‘bug icon’ in the upper right of your browser.
We will make the full migration to an official release of Flock 2 as soon as possible, pending your feedback.
We’ve got fuel in our tanks, and we’re here to show the world how much they’ve been missing by using plain browsers. Get on board, and help us out by sending your comments, love, enthusiasm, and of course…by telling your friends about Flock!
Our mission is all about you!

I am so glad to hear this great news. I have been waiting for it for quite some time.
I will now download this beta release and I will report any bug that I will find.
Thank You flock team for yet another great release
Dan - Looks good here so far!
What's firefox? j.k! ;)
Flock + Firefox 3 = World of Warcraft? I am loving it! :P
Oh, wait... Wow... ok, I love that, too! ;)

Also, some fonts of install process are broken.
(like 뽉꿂깎....)
This is Windows XP and I already installed FF3.
Thanks to everyone for the love!
@Ji Ho: That sounds like a bug we are currently investigating, which you can find at https://bugzilla.flock.com/show_bug.cgi?id=13775. Should be fixed in the next beta.
What do you mean by fonts of install process are broken?

I removed Flock from my PC last week because of increasing problems I was having with it. I'll try the new Flock 2 beta and see if the problems still exist. I'll report any problems. Thanks
It might be better to explain by Screen Shot.
I will send the e-mail with Screen Shots.
This is great! I'm using it right now and everything is working fine (except that i don't see my bookmarks but i had backup so np). I'll be checking for any bugs...
Keep on the good work :D
Hey TigersRock,
We've been seeing this issue crop up a little bit. We believe your favorites *are* still there, just hidden. We'll be working on a fix ASAP.

What happens when Firefox 3 goes public tomorrow? Is Flock 2 getting updated?
But yes, Flock 2 + Firefox 3 = Awesome!
Flock 2 + Firefox 3 = web 5.0
Am still enjoying Flock 1.2.1. Not gotten the new Betta yet though am waiting for another great 'bomb' browser from your team. Great work so far! I stopped using IE and FF.
That is a definite WOW, thanks for the great work, I can hear bill gates crying from here! hehe.
Interaction design
Flock 2 - lightning fast with webpages, also when reloading after exiting, but AOL seems to have gone awol as have all my favourites. Awaiting developments eagerly, as always.
I think you should change the search engine in address bar to Google :)
Hey!
Nice features, but really ugly layout. Absolutely overloaded. Probably it's better to use different apps for different actions.
Searching Yahoo by default is crazy - you didn't import my search engines from Firefox 2.0.14 under Mac!
Blogging:
With Wordpress you don't have categories yet. I'd need them. Is it possible to use Wordpress plugins? I've got many entries managed by a calendar plugin.
Rendering:
There is probably a rendering bug at your "preview comment" and "post comment" buttons. They are overlayed with a centered "P".
WOW INDEED!
My dreams come true a firefox 3 based flock!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Loove it. You guys have no idea how much you rule. I especially appreciate the fact that you didn't delay the ff3-tech at ALL. You jumped right on it and immediatelly migrated.
Keep rocking!
@Dennis Tang: Flock 2 Beta (one) is already based on the final release candidate of Firefox, so no update today with the Firefox 3 release.
@Hannibal: We're aware that there is a favorites migration issue and we're hunting it down now.
@Carter: We don't have a deal with Google, so we won't be doing that. If you'd like to change it manually, there are instructions at http://flock.com/faq/show/66#q_11642
@fox: Sorry to hear that you don't like the layout. We should have some new themes available later this year. In the meantime, you can remove icons you don't want by right-clicking the gray chrome near the star and choosing "Customize". Then just get rid of icons you don't want.
We have a deal with Yahoo! just like Mozilla has a deal with Google. You can manually change search engines in Search Preferences, but we are going to have the default search engine initially set to Yahoo! as long as we have a deal with them. That's how we (and Mozilla) make money.
We do have Wordpress categories, you'll see them in the dialog box you see after you click Publish. If they're not showing up there, let me know.
We're aware of the Preview Comment issue, and we'll have a fix out shortly. Thanks for the feedback.
@Alek Novi: Thanks very much, we wanted you Flockstars to not have to be torn between your favorite browser and the enhancements in Firefox 3. Flock 2 is the best of both worlds. :)

I was waiting for this. FF3 is blazing fast compared to the old FF2, and my only complaint on Flock is its current performance (especially with flickr and gmail open simultanously). I'll give the beta a try.
Thanks Evan, i'm waiting for Flock 2 :)
This isn't necessarily a Flock issue, but when I try to log in to one of my favorite sites (Destructoid.com) in Flock I cannot. It is not exclusive to the Beta, which is why it may be irrelevant, but any help with this would be great. Thanks
Very nice news - indeed <:). But my favorites are gone too :-S. There's still a fraction of delicious left but it won't synchronize and my toolbar is empty too. Seems like bookmarks could not be read..... Backups are nice - especially if you have them :)
foxmarks hasn't been working for me with 1.2.1 and i'm leery of upgrading and not having my bookmarks migrate with me. any thoughts?
After importing bookmarks.html, which I exported with Flock 1.2, nothing happened. After importing my Firefox bookmarks my Flock bookmarks showed up. Finally after some cleanup everything works fine.
I've just read "On Mac, new tabs are opened to the right of the tab in focus. On Linux and Windows, new tabs are opened on the end of the tab list." on the known issues page. For me they now always open on the end of the tab list. The problem is, that I really liked the behavior of opening right after the focused one. Is there a possibility to regain this behavior? :)
@Oktay: Interesting, thanks for the further information. We'll be looking into all those issues in the coming days and weeks.
@Robert Green: Foxmarks should actually work in 2.0 because we use a Favorites system much closer to Firefox's bookmarks system. Still, you should ALWAYS back up before using a beta. Instructions for backing up your Flock profile are at http://www.flock.com/faq/show/64#q_61799. If you run into the favorites-disappearing issue you should be able to run the 1.2 installer and be back in business.

Some problems after installing flock 2 beta on Fedora 9. Some missing plugins (even if i link the folder plugins from ff) e some crashes... Good work guys!
Wow.. this is excellent news. Flock actually made me change from FFx for the first time in 4 years but i'll stick with 1.1.4 until the majority of my extensions are supported in Fl2
I seriously love you.
<3's
Commercial?
:(
Working great so far without any issue. Was waiting for this. But I don't like the new interface of Tabs in Browser & in people sidebar. It's looking kind of ugly. Please try to keep Flock 1x interface for tabs. Thanks
Image if you want to see, what I'm saying...

Yeah, what exactly do you mean by commercial?
Great news! Congratulations! Flock rules!!!
firefox is an application (Like Windows!)
Yes, Are you think windows is an os? No, it is just an application Like Firefox! but very very stablest than windows.
@Fabio: Please email me about your plugin issues and we'll try to hunt them down. My email is: evan at flock dot com.
@Daniel: At least upgrade to Flock 1.2! :) It's got lots of cool stuff, even if it doesn't have the FF3 backend.
@Jody: Aww, thanks. Can I quote you on that? We're going to be starting a segment on the blog where we repost people's very nice messages to us. :)
@Galawyn: @Ivan: Sorry about that. By commercial we just mean the official, non-beta release. There won't be any ads or anything like that. We try not to use that phrase as it's confusing, but occasionally it slips through. :) I've edited it out of the post to avoid confusion.
@Eros: Thanks for the feedback on the UI, I'll note it. The tabs are an experiment, and if everyone dislikes them we can always revert to 1x tabs.
@everyone: We have a fix for the favorites migration issue on the way. Your favorites are still intact, you'll just have to follow a few steps to retrieve them. More information shortly.

Very good so far, my only quibble is that there does not appear to be a facebook link in the friend activity widget anymore,
Hi, Would love to see a final release soon, Any dates announced soon?
@David Owen: What do you mean by Facebook link? You mean no Facebook friend activity?
@Ajo Paul: It all depends on how many bugs crop up in the beta cycle and how fast we crush them. This is our primary focus from now until we're done, but we won't really know a date until we dig into it. Rest assured, we're not going to take our time. We're going to rock this thing. :)

Thanks Evan for considering my feedback :)
ok ok :D we was having heart attack.
we love Flock!!
commercial as official was my seconds try :) . but i was unsure of the translation, we in my company use that sometimes
it is a first time i tried Flock, and must say, i am really impressed)
it is something that i wanted for a long time.
erm...will it be possible in future then, write extensions for for example different blogs or different social networking sites?
because that would be just great)
only thing i didnt like is that it uses quite a bit of memory
but it is fast at loading pages
Im wondering why the tab button in the tab bar is on the far left? Why isn't it besides the tabs anymore?
I have been switching between Flock 1.2.1 and Flock 2 Beta only because Facebook doesn't work properly under Flock 2 but operates fine under Flock 1.2.1. The reason I keep trying both is because one has the functionality of what I want in a browser, but other is faster and less-resource intensive.
I understand that this is a beta and will continue to mature, so keep up the good work. I think I'm going to stick it out with Flock 2 only because it just seems that much more responsive and snappy.
My WORLD used to open and bug me in flock but now that I have fed the web my contacts and am a registered username everywhere in social networking, it is weirdly transforming before my eyes and updating in real time. Am beginning to appreciate this feature. I mention this because am downloading FLOCK 2 Beta [1] now and hope this feature is still intact with FLOCK. I will be 'swatting the fly often with feedback and input as I give it a GO. GO <>GO.

I love Flock!!!
PLease please please get the addons working...I can't go on without stumbleupon, and even my url fixer...without those two, im going insane!
Flock 2.0 is beautiful....but i must have stumbleupon, or I will "flock" to firefox again... :)
I have no bug button to report that downloading a ppt. from a site did not work...
@Exit: Unfortunately, until all the social networks start using a standard API, adding them to Flock is significant work. It *is* possible however, and if you're interested in developing an extension for Flock you're welcome to email me.
@chyan: I'm not sure why the tab button moved there either.I don't like the new location...sounds like you don't either?
@Marc: Glad to hear you're enjoying it. We'll certainly be fixing that People login detection bug for the next beta.
@Wesley: That's awesome feedback, thanks for sharing that! MyWorld seems to be a love or hate thing, and it's great to see that you eventually found use of it. Would you mind if I quoted you on that?
@Cody: Extensions aren't working because they haven't updated their code to work with the Flock 2 beta, and it's possible they won't (that's kind of an edge case). Once we hit the official release of 2.0 a lot of these should work again, and those that don't just need a code change. FWIW, I've heard that running the Stumbleupon installer twice in a row should get it to work in Beta (one).
@suslane: For some people migrating from an older version of Flock, the bug isn't showing up. You can get to the same page by going to Help>Give Feedback.

Hello!
I was wondering if there is going to be a 64bit build, or at least, the source and a couple of instructions on how to build it, so I can use Flock again.
I have been waiting for a 64bit version for months now. As i dont use Ubuntu/Debian, I cant use the "getdeb" version.
Is there any chance we will finally see a 64bit version (binary) in the homepage at Flock 2.0 release date?
If not, please publish the source link to the beta, and if is already published, please indicate me where as i would like to give it a try.
Regards,
Leonardo
