Flock Takes Home Two Honors at the 2008 VIATeC Technology Awards
Vancouver Island technology community recognizes the social media browser for “Newsmaker of the Year” and “Online Strategy of the Year”
REDWOOD CITY, Calif. – May 19, 2008 – Flock (www.flock.com), the innovative social Web browser, today announced that it received two important distinctions as “Newsmaker of the Year” and “Online Strategy of the Year,” at the recent Vancouver Island Advanced Technology Centre (VIATeC) awards.
The Newsmaker of the Year award recognizes the company that has garnered the most significant attention in the technology sector during the past year. Additionally, judges deemed Flock as the best online strategist for its creative usability and innovative design, as well as the results the company achieved from its fundamental communication strategy.

The annual VIATeC awards captures the enthusiasm, energy and innovation that characterize Vancouver Island’s technology entrepreneurs and business people. Since January 2008, Flock’s user base has increased by more than 250 percent while its revenue has risen by more than 400 percent. Since its launch, there have been more than 3.5 million downloads of the Flock browser, and since it’s first commercial release in 2007, more than 60 percent of users have made Flock their default browser.
