Twitter issues (some specific to Linux, some not)

Hi all, I just landed to these forums. I am from Italy so I apologize for all my future grammar errors :-)

By the way, I tried to set an image for this forum ... but:
* The selected file /tmp/tmp_eHf0C9 could not be uploaded, because the destination files/pictures/picture-11032.jpg is not properly configured.
* Failed to upload the picture image; the pictures directory doesn't exist or is not writable.

Now, about Flock itself (I'm loving it!) and Twitter:

* Messages sometimes get published even if you don't press Enter. Pressing TAB will send the message too (I think it shouldn't, it should instead move the cursor to the next form / field), and I think other mouse/keyboard operations triggered the message sending too. This happened to me on Linux AND Windows.

* On Linux, the form where you're supposed to write your message is too little. I'm using quite standard fonts I think, but I can't read what I'm typing. The form should be a bit higher.

* People sidebar could, and should IMHO, display the whole message. Twitter messages are so short that I think we don't need an even shorter preview of them. Just display them entirely. Hovering every message to read it is time-consuming.

* Profiles. In Flock, we can open a Twitter user profile by clicking on their picture, on their name, or in the drop-down 'Actions' menu. Maybe three ways to do the same thing are too much? Maybe remove this action from the drop-down menu and put there instead a different link about that user (...her Twitter Favorites? her homepage?...)

* Direct Messages. Flock says I have nine _new_ direct messages, but actually they are always the same _old_ messages. Correctly, the 'you have no new messages' icon appears too.

* in the 'My World' Twitter widget, I'd like to get more twitter messages. An 'infinite-scrolling' feature like the one in Feed would be GREAT.

100% agree with the "On Linux, the form where you're supposed to write your message is too little." this is on Facebook etc

+1 VOTE!!!! to increase the size of this box/form area so you can see the FULL letters rather than just the upper half or tip of the letter.

What is the best way to get these issues resolved?
Should I file them as bug reports in a different Flock website?

(bump)

These issues are still happening and are preventing me -and possibly all other Linux osers- to manage Twitter by using Flock.

If you need more details about them, just ask.

Hey folks,

Sorry about the delay in responding to this thread. I confess that the reason it took so long is that it is a very good post, and I needed to find time to write a good response!

Message sending too soon: This may be because of a bug that we just fixed (in 1.2, coming soon) in which the automatic refresh in the People sidebar inturrupted the posting. As for tab, I think this makes sense; it would make less sense to have tab revert to the old post, no?

Status posting form too small: This is fixed in a future version of Flock.

Show whole Twitter status: Pretty high on our Feature Request list. Should make it in later this year, I would guess.

Multiple ways to profile: We're all about making multiple, easy paths for people to get what they want, not locking them into one way. Is the fact that you can access a profile multiple ways detrimental to your Flock experience? If not, we're unlikely to change this; it might very well upset someone who DOES use those methods.

Direct Messages: This is on Twitter's plate. Twitter has no sense of read/unread messages, and thus the People sidebar just reflects what the Twitter inbox says is going on.

More Tweets in MyWorld: Not a bad request, I don't know if there's a reason why we limit this. I will add it to my feature request list.

Thanks for the great, in-depth feedback!

Message sending too soon / Tab:
a good solution would be to leave the text where it is - don't publish it, don't delete it. Only send when 'Enter' is pressed. I'm insisting because I'm not aware of user interfaces where both 'Tab' and 'Enter' have a 'Publish / Send' function ... but for sure I may be wrong.

Profiles:
Got it, and thanks for all your answers ^__^
What about adding some Twitter features to Actions menu, e.g. user's Favorites and user's homepage link?

Hey open,

Having your status sit in the status section without being published doesn't really make sense to me from an experience perspective. If my status is there, it is published.

I understand that you're used to tab changing fields, but there are no fields to change to there...I'm just not sure this is an issue most people are running into.

Adding friend favorites as a link sounds like a solid addition. What do you mean by "user's homepage link"?

Heh, sorry about that. I meant the URL that users put into the "Web" field in their Twitter webpage.

Ahh, gotcha. I think that one is unlikely to land because then we have to discuss what OTHER profile info might go into the People sidebar. URLs on Facebook? Age? I think that's a slippery slope. :)
