Some general comments

Hey guys

Been using IE7 and Firefox mainly for the last couple years, but over the last few weeks really been using the three other biggest browsers... Maxthon, Opera and Flock.

All have good ideas and features but Flock has been the one I enjoy using the most... and I think I am going to use it permanently from now on. For once I actually feel I have control over all the social networks I use... instead of trying to remember where everything is its now all ready with easy access and quick updates so I can see whats going on.

I am looking forward over the next year to seeing you guys implementing more networks into the browser... especially MySpace, Ning and Digg. I would also like to see Stumbleupon integrated, if thats possible. I know the toolbar works, but Flock uses up a little more screen real-estate as it is so I don't want to use it, so having some sort of sidebar integration, or something would be great.

Also a couple questions...

How come Live Search isn't included in with the installed search engines? I know its very simple to install it yourself, but its also equally easy to bundle it with the browser. Is this purely a anti-Microsoft act, or just an oversight? Live is the third largest search engine so it probably be worth it.

On that note I seriously love the way you can get instant search results for Yahoo while you type in the toolbar search form... on possibility of having the same happen for Google searches and Live Searches?

Actually there are a number of Microsoft services that I'm surprised have no integration at all into flock considering their popularity (400 million live IDs or something). I would love to see Live mail integrated with the other web mail accounts. Live Contacts would also be extremely useful, and I think pretty easy to integrate... and as someone else suggested in another post on thsi forum, Live Space would probs be good too. I don't use it but a lot of people do, even though you don't hear much about it.

One thing I was most surprised at was the lack of themes! Haha, luckily Flock actually comes with a very nice theme, a great deal better then Opera and Maxthon, but at the same time I was just surprised there were none available.

I would be interested in doing the artwork for some themes if there is anyone interested in working on one together?

Anyways good work.. keep it up guys

Hey adondai,

Thanks for the thoughtful post! To answer your questions:

I'm not sure why Live Search is not included in the default search engines, but I don't feel that it's size necessitates it being there. We try to provide an interesting, varied mix of default engines here, and, like you said, it's easy to add Live Search.

As for other Microsoft products, I think the general answer is "they need good, stable APIs". Microsoft is working in this direction (we're talking with the Hotmail folks right now) but many of their products lack this essential ingredient for integration.

As for themes, a few have surfaced on the forums (just do a search) and we're hard at work on something that will make your theming world even better in '08. :)

Flock on!
