How to import OTHER social networks into FLOCK

Hi there, i'm german, so i want to add some german-only social networks like
www.studivz.net
and www.wer-kennt-wen.de to FLOCK.

Is it possible to add those by logging in and changing something in the flock preferences?

Or do we have to wait until those are integrated into flock (what will never happen i guess).

Is there a way to get those things integrated without being able to program or hack?

Like being able to post comments, see your pictures there, all in the sidebar with the other flock-supported stuff.

If not, could you guys program something that makes this possible?

Like Automator in OS X, where what you click and write is recorded and saved as a script.

Or like 1Password works, you tell it what text belongs to which field, and it cann fill out credit card information and passwords / accounts directly.

In a similar way, it should be able to support communities that arent officially supported by flock, by telling flock "THIS IS THE BUTTON TO CLICK FOR NEW MESSAGES" and stuff.

This would make flock much more personal and costumizable.

Is this possible? Or does it already work and all my suggestions are bullshit ;D

plz tell me

Norman, Germany

Hello,

Thanks for the feedback. Unfortunately, there's no real way to make this easy (unless all social networks start using the same API). There's programming involved at all levels of integration. We're definitely looking at some German social networks, and I will note your votes for these specific sites; hopefully we'll get to them!

You could always add the RSS feeds if there are any. It's better than nothing in the meantime.

Hey btocher,

We don't really like to "half" do anything here. We're committed to making the best product we can, and so we're unlikely to do improvised integrations.

Hi,
i would also like to see some german sites integrated into flock, especially studivz.net. By the way, they started some other european spin offs from the german studivz, but i don't know how well they are used.

It would be great to see studivz and its connected platforms schuelervz and meinvz with overall more than 8 million users integrated into flock!

Orkut is VERY popular in Brazil, it should be interesting to have that one, too. If possible. Also, it's a way to get more Brazilians into flock. :)

I'd also like to see studiVZ added to the flock browser.

I've just recently moved from the UK to Germany and started using facebook to contact people back home as a direct consequence of installing Flock. studiVZ is however, a much more popular site with my German friends and its been relegated to the backwaters of my bookmarks because its not supported.

Please log my vote for STUDIVZ.NET too, it is the biggest german social network and should not be missed in a coll app like flock!!

I'm using lokalisten.de and studivz.net heavily. So an integration of these two social networks into flock would be a great help. ;)
Since early 208 lokalisten.de actually is based on OpenSocial.

I absolutely agree - studivz is essential if you wanna get any market share at all in Germany.

studiVZ has 9 million registered users and is THE German social network site. When I downloaded Flock I was disappointed that it's not supported and never used Flock again since I am not a member in the supported communities.

studiVZ or better meinVZ these two ore from the same company and sharing contacts so if you start talking to them would be great to integrate the wohl bunch of their communities :)

StudiVZ as well. Since StudiVZ is *really* just a knockoff from Facebook it shouldn't be too hard to integrate it to flock like you did with facebook. "MeinVZ" and "SchuelerVZ" are basically the same (I think they're even connected to each other) so really, if you've got StudiVZ, the rest should be easy.

Thanks! :)
