Hot off the press, blogging live from this year's South By Southwest (SXSW) conference in Austin TX. Flock won for best showing in the Community category. No doubt in large part to the raving support of our loyal community, who keep championing Flock as the best browser for the way we use the web today. Given the always interesting crowd of entrepreneurs and trend-setters at SXSW, we couldn't be happier about this acknowledgement of Flock. Thank you, SXSW.

Flock SXSW Award
Flock Won "Best In Community"

The SXSW conference has been an annually occurring event since 1987, bringing thousands of people together to share ideas about emerging trends in music, film and interactive media. This is by far the hippest conference on the calendar, mainly because it serves the interest that we share in the amazing collision that is occurring between social media, narrative storytelling (in all forms of self-expression), technology, and the way it is changing our lives.

Common themes at the SXSW conference this year have been social apps, mobile, mashups, publishing platforms, and well...saturation. I attended an interesting panel discussion this afternoon on "super-colliders", which are people (and in some instances, companies) that are gifted at leveraging many different social media platforms to build their own personas, influence and networks using the best available social resources on the web. The common theme of discussion at the conference today is that there is a point of diminishing return, created by the required investment in time and attention, required to keep up with the many different social venues that provide a new extended audience of friends, groups and discussions. Beyond a certain point, the panel talked about 'social saturation craziness' setting in. Well..rest assured, there is a solution. Flock - The Social Web Browser.

3 million people have downloaded Flock to date, and our growth is increasing at an incredible rate. If you've found Flock to be a helpful antidote to your 'social saturation craziness', then please tell your friends that help is only a download away. The recent growth in Flock's popularity is driven entirely by satisfied, raving Flock fans who are telling their friends, and we appreciate every single recommendation.

Before I discovered Flock, I used Opera - a excellent browser, but something very important is missing there - the features I've discovered at Flock.
Have I told you already that Flock is my browser now? It is.
Congratulations for the award!
Please keep doing a great work.

@Armando: I have the same story to tell! :) Opera is an excellent browser, but Flock's features have won me over ;)
Congratulations to Flock, you truly deserve it!

I am so glad to hear this! Congratulations Flock Team! I can proudly say I have been on the Flock train ever since the very first beta. And can also proudly say I have actually gotten nearly 20 of my friends to use this remarkable browser. It has helped me in so many ways, because of the many things I have and need to use for both school, work, blogs, etc and it has become so much easier with Flock!

Again, Congrats!
Brandon J.

Congratulations,
This is really great news, you deserve it :-)

congratulations... I have just made the switch so don't you dare stop working on this wonderfull product.

All the best to the Flock team - you really deserve it, folks.

Congrats Flock team! You've done some really great work, and I'm a proud user of Flock (and I have been since a few months ago). If I can ask a question: what's Flock going to do with Weave when it comes to light?

Thanks,
Jonny Dover

I've been blogging all week from SXSW, and doing it with Flock. What an awesome coincidence.

Great work! I really enjoy Flock and the features provided. Hope some developers create some new themes to help spread the good will this browser provides.

Great to see this browser at the forefront of the social web phenomena.

No, it's not. I'd never heard of Flock until I received a notice that the Netscape browser I was temporarily using would no longer be supported. The announcement provided a link to Flock as the suggested replacement browser. I downloaded it and I'm reasonably happy with it, so I'll continue using it, but it had absolutely nothing to do with word of mouth.

Hey Jim,

"Entirely" was probably a strong word. A more accurate word would be "mostly". We are certainly grateful for being recommended by the Netscape team, and this has definitely contributed to our growth.

When will you translate flock in spanish?

It is good, and it is time to choose that every one wants to earn much money, but senior players is not a blind, one time they will come back. In order to play the game well, so I have to buy the silk road gold, I use them can buy a lot of things what I want. And I can buy props and equipment to become stronger, but it is only the senior players can do it.

The senior players definitely are on the lookout and aren't stupid.
