I am a new Flock user, previously using Firefox. Now, I have a few Firefox addons, in particular Adblock Plus, that I'd like to try to use in Flock as well. The information on the web page suggests that most Firefox plugins will work on Flock, and suggests trial and error.
I'd like to do this, but how? The download-install procedure for the Firefox addons only installs them to Firefox. How the heck do I get it to install into Flock instead? I can't find any instructions, anywhere in the FAQ or anywhere else about how to do this.

It's simple actually, start flock, go to firefox.com add-on page, and simply click Install for any add-on you want. Flock should automatically offer add-on installation. Except if you have both FF i FL installed and FF steals the installation from Flock. This I don't know how to fix.
Maybe by setting the default program for .xpi files to be flock, manually.

thanks cunninG. Somehow I was expecting it to be more complicated than that, but it works fine even with both Flock and FF installed. :)

you're welcome! as it was said, the solutions to the life's greatest problems are often the simplest ones. :)

Does that solution result in multiple copies of add-ons, one set in FF and one in FL? Couldn't FL link to the ones in FF instead?

Yes, if you have both Firefox and Flock installed, as I do, each program manages and stores their add-ons separately.
Re: Linking: Why couple the two programs so closely? Here are some problems I see with your suggestion:
1. What happens if you uninstall Firefox, and tell the uninstaller to delete your profile? Your add-ons for Flock then go away.
2. Flock and Firefox have different publishing patterns; Firefox was released in (I think) July 2008, but Flock 2, based on Firefox 3 code, has not been officially released yet.
3. Not all Firefox add-ons work properly in Flock, and some add-ons are built specifically for Flock and may not work in Firefox (for example Blogplus). How do you manage from Flock which add-ons you want from Firefox and which Flock-specific add-ons you want installed?
Overcoming these issues is probably more difficult for Flock than just using functionality in the Firefox codebase to manage add-ons.
