I have a Widows Vista(sadly) and for some reason my flock won't play the sound for Youtube, Myspace, Facebook videos or, as a matter of fact, any audio files online whatsoever. The only way I can hear audio files is to use my Internet Explorer, which is very inconvenient for me. I have had this problem since I've had my Windows Vista, which is about 6 months. I have tried EVERYTHING. I have upgraded flock, downloaded and installed every type of active x control possible, downloaded Quick play and everything like it, uninstalled and reinstalled Flock about 4 times, and NOTHING works! PLEASE help me fix this problem! It's so frustrating!

Same thing for me, but I have XP installed. No sounds played whatsoever on Youtube or anything else. Any clues what causes this? To make things worse, ever since I installed Flock my Firefox is not playing any sounds. Very frustrating. I don't want to go back to IE, so please, developers, deal with this!

Yes, same problem with me. I have windows vista. Very disapointed, feel like living in the stone age. Flock looked cool, but...

I am also having problems with Flock not playing youtube sounds. I haven't been feeling real good for doing troubleshooting but I am starting right this minute by restarting the computer as soon as I post this. I just tested with Firefox 3 beta 3 and that did play the youtube video, and the same video also played on my other computer running firefox 2.

In the last day or so Flock has stopped playing any audio files and is having trouble streaming videos. My computer runs XP and my other browsers safari and Netscape play audio and video files with no problems.

Try typing about:plugins in the URL bar and then scroll down to check out which version of flash you have.
Please post here as it would help us debug the problem.
Possibly upgrading flash would help.
Flash content (YouTube qualifies as this) work fine for on both Vista and XP I am curious what might be different for you.

Shockwave Flash
File name: NPSWF32.dll
Shockwave Flash 9.0 r115
This video / audio playback seems to happen randomly as yesterday everything worked fine but now the video playback is just still images which don't play but you can fast forward through. Audio doesn't work on any video or music sites such as youtube or myspace. Other browsers such as safari and firefox are working perfectly.

My audio stopped working a week or two ago.
Running XP
Updated flash and nothing changed
This is what about:plugins showed:
File name: NPSWF32.dll
Shockwave Flash 9.0 r124
Any help? I'm tired of it not working and am about to switch back to firefox or opera...but don't want to.

This is funny. I was having the same problem (no sound or video). I went to download Firefox and now Flock seems to work ok. Weird.

No Audio on Flock in Windows Vista Ultimate. I actually uninstalled and reinstalled the Flock 1.2 program but to no avail. There is simply no sound with this browser rendering it useless on my Windows Vista Quad Core computer.

Hi everyone,
If you haven't updated to 1.2.1, please do so and let me know if this issue is still occurring. Also, please make sure that your Flash is up to date, and that your Master Volume control doesn't have anything muted.
@ Sha: What are you trying to view that has Audio? Could you possibly send me a link if it's a video or website?
Talk to you soon,

Has this issue been resolved? I do not get any sound either when viewing YouTube on Flock. I am running
File name: NPSWF32.dll
Shockwave Flash 9.0 r124
Windows XP Media Edition
Flock 1.2.1
YouTube works fine in IE 7.0.5730.11
And in Firefox 2.0.0.14
Please Help - I really like Flock and would like to switch to it.
Thank you
Jen Anderberg
@ Max: Unfortunately I didn't get the video you attached. Could you please email it to me at jen at flock dot com? Also, on Vista I know that if you double click on the speakers- it allows you to monitor your Volume control by Application (open ones). Can you see if any of those are turned down? Thanks, talk to you soon.
@ Janis: Since you are on XP like me, can you send me some links please? That way I can try to reproduce the issue. Also, you could try the new Flock Beta (2.0) and see if the issues still exist. Please let me know either way, thanks so much.

I had the same problem. Couldn't get any video or youtube fees to play sound. I'm using Vista Ultimate. I took Anderberg's last suggestion and installed Flock 2.0 Beta, and now sound works fine . . so far . .
Charmer
This is a problem I have in both Firefox and Flock. As a music blogger it is immensely frustrating. Nothing suggested works which suggest there is a conflict between the Firefox/Flock code and Flash. If someone could fix this conflict I'm sure the world would be a happoer place for us bloggers.

@Charmer - You have tried using Flock 2 beta2 haven't you?
Just an idea.
