The development and release of Cardinal, Flock 0.7 has been quite a ride! For that matter, Flock has been a ride, and we have come a long way since our days of hacking in a Palo Alto garage last summer. Ah those days - I remember that we would sketch out ludicrous ideas on whiteboards all day, and when one finally caught, we would grab our laptops, program all night (often through the next morning) till every drop of energy was spent. Then we would pass out on the floor, and after a hazy stint of sleeping, we would get up, grab our laptops, and repeat. If there is one thing that I have learned to love about people who work in technology, it is that stupid imperative to make stuff, even if it drives them into the floor. So cool.

There have been several big shifts in Flock since those days. First, we have finally managed to pull together a team of people with the talent and passion to actually execute on something like Flock. Secondly, we have thought a lot more on what social browsing means, what it will mean, and have started to become more disciplined about what exactly goes into our web browser. The question always pops into one's head - "What should we make?" Last summer, the answer would have been something like "Whatever we think is cool!" Now, we are trying to be a bit more disciplined - even though we have always tauted ourselves as aspiring to be a user-centric piece of software, it takes a lot of research, work, and feedback to actually create something that is fun and easy to use.

But some things havn't changed. We are still burning midnight oil, still drinking caffeinated Blues, still waking up next to laptops. Really, for the last few months, we have been pouring our hearts into this release. We hope that some of the effort shows.

I wanted to let you know that this latest release is an amazing accomplishment. I tried a release about 6 months back from the development build tree and all I can say is wow. This is truely great!

Thanks for the great product,

S.

Great site update too! Keep up the good work! I hope your revenue stream starts flowing!

Am I blind or there is no browsing history.....?

You really did a wonderful job with this release. I tried some sooner releases, but they weren't that cool and well-developed. You really managed to make a social browser. I'm switching!

I'd just like to say how much I enjoy the Flock browser. The way it integrates Flickr and Wordpress completely suits my needs and makes surfing (as silly as this sounds) fun! Thanks again for creating such a great product! I can't wait until more extensions (such as the Adblock filter set G) and newer releases come out!

Awesome! I love Flock. Excellent job all around. I have 7 web browsers now. I'm loaded and ready.

Honestly, I have no idea why somebody builds up a team of experienced people and works all day and night for months just to release... a browser.

Then again, I'm grateful that you did. flock could be the thing I've been waiting for, while I hesitated to replace Safari by Camino or Firefox, not to say DeerPark or Opera. Every day I'm struggling with my blog's posting interface, or wonder why I pay for a utility that syncs my bookmarks or else.

All these cool new services that we've seen during the last months and year, need to be managed from one central information hub that's even better than the sum of it's parts. Apple failed to provide such a piece of software until now, it looks as if flock could fill that gap.

I still wonder what you guys do for a living, since flock is free and food is not. However, it's great what you've achieved so far. All the best,

Christian

You have done an outstanding job. Now, let's get folders of bookmarks into the favorites bar!!!

Hey Anthony -- glad to hear things are going so well for you these days! let's catch up soon. I miss that "stupid imperative!" good stuff!

MS

I first found out about Flock attending a session by David Warlick at the SC EdTech Conference last week. Our school is moving towards Web 2.0 tools and Flock is rabidly becoming our browser of choice. Everyone at school that has tried Flock has instantly fallen in love with it. As the Technology Coordinator, I probably will be having Flock installed in all of our machines and will be encouraging parents to install it at home so they can easily subscribe to all of our RSS feeds and podcasts. Thanks for a great web browser.

I wanna say I really enjoy the browser. Thanks for creating a great product! How about a browsing history?

Good work! Thanks!
