Hey Flockstars!

I'd like to welcome new and returning Flockstars to the new Flock.com.  I hope you're all reading this post with Flock 0.9 and having a blast.

Will Pate is here with me and we will be rocking the interwebs all week.  We've stocked up on food and supplies, built makeshift beds out of Flockstar shirts, and drank a lot of caffeine.  We'll be answering emails, questions, chats and the like regarding Flock 0.9 with total vigilance.

If you'd like to chat with us, there are a couple of methods you can use:

Email:  will at flock dot com
            evan at flock dot com
AIM:     willpateaim
            evanhprotean
MSN:   evanhamilton_protean at hotmail dot com

IRC:    Lots of the Flock team will be hanging out on irc.flock.com (channel: #flock) during launch week.  If you'd like to join us but don't have IRC, follow these instructions:
1. Go to http://www.ircatwork.com/advanced.html
2. Enter a Nickname
3. Enter irc.flock.com as the server
4. Enter 6667 as the port
5. Enter #flock as the channel
6. Click "Login"

Will and I will continue to blog throughout the week as we grow larger beards and chat with more and more of you.  We also have several video and photo cameras and will do our best to document the whole crazyawesome experience.  Looking forward to chatting with you all...Flock on!

I just downloaded the 0.9 release and have been using it for a day or two. Wanted to give you guys some initial feedback. I want to use it to read my RSS feeds (I'm still exploring the rest), b/c I'd like to replace my current RSS feed reader (FeedReader 3.10 from feedreader.com). It doesn't handle JavaScript well, and starts throwing all sorts of exceptions at me. But...They have a lot of features you guys don't seem to have. For example, the ability to delete RSS articles once you have read them (or before you read them) and the ability to automatically search a page for RSS feeds, rather than making you find and insert the exact url.
Also, is there a way you could save our comment information? I really get tired of typing in my name, email address, and website every time I post a new comment.

Hey David,

Thanks for the feedback! Answers below

-Deleting articles: We've had a few requests for some way to make read articles go away. I will add your vote to the pile...we'll probably be looking at this for Flock 1.0. Seems like it should be easy to do.

-Search a page for RSS feeds: Can you give me an example? Flock should be detecting feeds on a page and lighting up the feeds icon (two icons to the right of the Flock Star).

-Info on the website: You can create an account on flock.com by going to www.flock.com/user. Clearly this is not too visible, so I will file a bug to get it put into the comment area. Thanks for the head's up.

Flock on,

I'm glad to see the great reviews. But, I ahve to admit, since the "shelf" feature was deleted, I really have no use for Flock. I downloaded flock from day one. I've watched it promise something REALLY different for users. I remember the arguments over what to call "the shelf" and that it was dumped unceramoniously...with vague explanations.

It went from being the most unique browser in the world....to another Firefox wanna-be . The good reviews aren't wrong. But, neither are the bad ones. And they come from , mostly, the people you swayed to try it up front.

We watched crazy employees blogging insane drunk babble. We stayed.

We watched the bumps in the road early on. we stayed.

We watched as ALMOST ALL of the original features vanished and it became clear there was a new boss in town and they weren't visionary at all.

Many have left. Now it's my turn. I find the browser boring and irrelevant. I ALWAYS go straight to Firefox and it does everything Flock does and more.

You had a great idea and turned it into a bland, uninspring, loser product. The good reviews will not help. No one cares . We did at one time. We fought in forums where people said it was auseless product. We pointed out the great topbars, the shelf's capabilities. And then , much like a self-sabateur in the throes of a long term mania, you threw it all away for more of the same.

Really, I never did not know you are a girl or a boy, the day to see you just feel that cute you are, I think that you must be a boy. At last, you are a girl. One day I am a person in the waterfall in a daze when suddenly thought of you, I have a lot of kal gold, and I can not use out of them, so I want to give you some.
