When will you support picasa?

http://picasaweb.google.com/ ;)

yes sounds good to me but i kind of feel there seems to be a bent towards Yahoo with flock.. thats how it comes standard..
but yeah i switched to photobucket cause of the 1 gig free but still think picaso googles free pictures online service is very very nice and i'd be keen
it is a good idea to have multiple support so we can get gb's of photos online

I am really hoping to see Picasa support as well. I have been spending time in Picasa and Flickr a lot, trying to compare them, and I think I am liking Picasa more and more. The Flickr site in general is too unresponsive, and clumsily laid out...hard to navigate.

Another vote! Please support Picasa!

I too would love to see Picasa support. I have no use for Flickr - I have all my photos organised with the Picasa desktop app and like it that way.

varaonaid

December 29, 2006 - 6:26pm

That's exactly my situation. I've really come to like the Picasa desktop app and use it for organization and downloading pics from my camera. I even have my in-laws set up so that they can view our pics on the web through the Picasa website. If Flock integrated with that, I'm sure I'd switch permanently.

Hi all,

I am not sure if Picasa support will be in Flock or not. I know the Flock employees have heard many users requesting Picasa to be added.

Hey folks,
Keep the suggestions coming. Many of them may not reach 1.0, as we already have a large bundle of features that we're trying to sort out and get release-worthy. However, once 1.0 is out we will start examining other services to add. The more voices supporting the service you like, the more likely it will be added.

I'd like to see Picasa support too...not because I use it, but because it will help show that Flock isn't a yahoo cheering section. In particular, I'd like to see integrated support for another bookmarking service, as del.icio.us is an awful site....but it is yahoo.

I do have a bit of a worry that Flock will stay too partial to Yahoo. Yahoo has some merits, Flickr rocks, but in many other areas there are much better options.

Hey ansfrid,
While we have partnerships with Yahoo, Photobucket and the like, it's not our intention to become branded by other companies. Flock is about choice (within the limits of our time and technical ability), and we will keep listening to what you folks want.

Votes logged, thanks folks. It has been confirmed that we will be investigating Picasa integration (in other words, if it seems within our means to get it integrated in a short time, we will). I will let you know when I have more info.

I'm going to start using Flock, but it'd be so much more perfect if I could upload pictures to my Picasa album. I don't want to start over on Flickr or Photobucket.

Please?!

Hey folks,

I have logged your votes and Picasa is definitely high on our list because of your feedback. Picasa is unlikely to be in Flock 1.0, but we will be examining it's API to figure out how likely it is for integration (hopefully quickly) post-1.0. I will keep you informed as I find out more.

I'd love for Picasa Web support, too. I'm a new to Flock, but I'm liking what I see. Hopefully, an even wider range of services will be added (especially of the Google variety, since that is what I mostly use). I also noticed the Facebook sidebar on the beta blog (I've been searching for ways to integrate facebook onto my browser/home page and that would be perfect!).

Hey canisreevus,

I will log your vote for Picasa. 1.0 does indeed have Facebook integration, and I can confidently say that it's awesome. :)

Hi Folks,

Picasa is high on our list of services to integrate. Unfortunately I don't have a definitive date that I can give you all at the moment. When we have a better feel for the scope of effort required and availability of engineers to do the work we'll let y'all know.

Thx,

yet another vote for picasa!

Actually, any google products support would be great. I noticed the lean towards yahoo which is fine, just that I have a google account and don't want nor need to duplicate any programs/services with another company ie yahoo. So please don't stop at picasa!

Thanks guys, really liking the browser so far...

I will add my vote too. As a new user of Flock, I like what I see so far, and while Picasa is not quite a deal breaker, it is very close to it.

Glad to see you found the beta! :)

We're happy to have added Picasa, and it's really thanks to the overwhelming requests by community members like you that it's integrated. So nice work yourself. :)

I am uninstalling Flock until they support Picasa. How could your engineers have ignored it? Yahoo paid more or something? I use Picasa and was all excited with the Media Streams bar... about which your own site mentions "you can browse pictures in this and that and Picasa" but then I have to come to a forum to find out you guys just bypassed the service completely. Oh well... see you when you support Picasa.

Evan Hamilton

February 27, 2008 - 3:00pm

Hey Eduardo,

In case you didn't see the most latest post on this thread, Flock 1.1 (coming out within the next month) will support Picasa. The current version of Flock will automatically update to 1.1, so no reason to uninstall.
