can't upload pictures

This is such a basic problem but I can't figure it out. No matter what I do I can't seem to upload my photos from my computer to my photobucket account! I highlight the photos I want to upload, click open but they just won't appear in the upload window! What am I doing wrong?

Hi,

From the photo topbar, you want to select "Upload". Then select "Choose Photos" and choose the photos you want to upload.

If you still have problems, let us know.

I cant upload photos either, not sure if problem all over or just with me. I click on upload, drag and drop my photos, choose the bit about which folder to put them in and whether or not i wish to resize, click ok and then an error message comes up and says invalid response from server. are you having problems this week - it was happening last night too? cheers, katie

Hi all,

Are you still having problems? What service are you trying to upload to, Flickr or Photobucket?

Are you using any anti-virus and/or firewall applications?

ok so im having the same exact problem.
I use the flock uploader, and go through the whole process and as soon as i press upload, it says there was an invalid response from the server.
I was actually using it and it uploaded two pictures, and then it said that and now its been doing it ever since.
&& now i cant upload onto any photo site, myspace or send email attachments.
ive unistalled and reinstalled and still the same response. && i have norton antivirus and adaware but they never interferred before so i dont think its that.
I also had just got a wireless connection through linksys a couple days before it happened and some people said that was they're problem but i really dont know what to think anymore.

some one help me PLEASE im gonna go crazy

Hi Leah,

You should make sure to remove all photos from the Photo Uploader and upload a photo, but wait till the photo shown up and press the Upload button. Also, do you mind sending us the photos that you are unable to upload? Send any photos to patricia@flock.com

Thanks.

Same problem. I have repeatedly deleted previous unsuccessfully uploaded pics, mostly comments and gif files. Tried to start over and load one foto..."invalid response from server" is all i get. I have tried jpegs, gifs, pings, no luck with anything. Most of the uploads come from right clicking an image and then clicking on "upload" in the dropdown. Have tried the drag and drop also. This has been happening for a long time....have reinstalled several times and no success. For several days, I couldn't even open flock. It kept saying that there was a "problem and Flock has to shut down" before it even got to the first screen. That problem was resolved last week with a new install. Also, what is the easiest way to add a photo already coded to my PB? Thank you,
Brian

I had this same problem with flock on my other computer- it just started happening after working fine for so long (I think flock changed something at that point. I'm doing it right- because it worked fine before). I got it working again for a while but I don't know how (then we got rid of that computer). Now we have a new machine & got Flock back. I'm with Alex Guzun, I drag photos to the photo uploader, click upload and NOTHING happens. My daughter says she has no problem with hers & she has her own account on this same computer. Is there a setting, or a button I have to click somewhere in some setup file??

June 15, 2008 - 11:03am

This is "Wanderer". Let me clarify- I seem to be confused between Flock & Photobucket. I posted as Wanderer because it wouldn't let me use notetojan. Seems I had to register w/flock first. So now I've done that. I can upload to Facebook just fine (Why don't they support Myspace?), but my question above was about trying to upload to Photobucket. I have "Flock w/ Photobucket", which is why I viewed them as the same. Now I'm just confused. I do have an account with Photobucket, I'm logged in, I can have my photos stream at the top of the browser, but I can't upload to it. Can anyone help me figure this out? I click upload & nothing happens. Thanks so much...

If you have trouble on photobucket.com or any similar form uploader check your current Java update and firewall settings -for photobucket and other sites like myspace if that doesn't work try using the "Old uploaders" - in photobucket you can get to the old uploader by clicking the link in the lower right hand corner of your uploader options beneath the "reduce to" option

- I'm running PClinuxOS -Gnome for my operating system and for some reason photobucket will only cooperate with the old uploader - was messed up in both my browsers Firefox and Epiphany

Hello there,

If you're having problems uploading photos, please let me know what version of Flock you are. You can verify this by typing about: (there's a colon there) in your URL/address bar. If you're not on the latest version of Flock, please update and then let me know if the problem still persists. If you like you can try the Flock beta (version 2.0) and see if the issue is fixed there.

Thanks so much, hope to hear back from you soon.

Ok, I'm having the same problem too... I'm a Mac user, no other antivirus software installed. I'm a fairly heavy e-bayer, and used this app weekly to upload photos to Photobucket. Always worked fine until I recently started getting these "invalid response from server" messages... nothing has changed on my end. I tried uninstalling the app and installed the 2.0 beta version as suggested, but it still doesn't work. However, it now seems like it's not even recognizing that i'm logged into Photobucket at all. I open the uploader, drag and drop my photos, choose photobucket from the drop down at the bottom... the browser pulls up the page for me to log in, which I do. At this point when I go back to upload, the upload button is still greyed out and I'm unable to click on it. If I try to choose Photobucket again from the drop down, the browser just opens another window with Photobucket for me to log in again. Any other suggestions??

Hi Abdullah Khalid,

Thanks for contacting us. How big is the file that you're trying to upload? How long does it hang there, a couple minutes or longer? We've tried to reproduce the issue here, and we're not having any problems with Linux. Does the window ever close, or do you have to close it?

Please let me know and we'll investigate it more from there. Thanks!

basically i'm just upping pictures onto Facebook, and it just gets stuck. i left it for 5 minutes without any change. the file is in the kB range, and my net connection has 1 Mbps up so no problem with file there both in terms of size and speed..

maybe i should reinstall flock and see what happens? do you know of a certain plugin or addon which interferes with this function? i had installed some firefox addons, namely noscript, but for this instance i had it disabled. dont know if it affects anything while it is disabled..

thanks for the help though!

Hi again,

Thanks for getting back to me. Before you un-install, perhaps we should try a clean profile first. You can follow these instructions to find your profile folder- Flock FAQs. Once you find it, if you just move it to your Desktop, then close and restart Flock. This will start Flock with a fresh profile folder. Please let me know if the issue still persists after this.

Thanks!

Abdullah Khalid

September 20, 2008 - 4:08pm

Hi again :)
tried to do a clean profile both thru cut-paste and starting flock with --profilemanager affixed, no use either way.. the file upload dialog just freezes. did i mention that normal file uploading works? oh and the upload photos dialog can also list my photo albums in facebook, but it seems it cannot write to them or some script is blocked or something..

tell u what, i'll try reinstalling from the repositories, and either way i'll come back and report!

cheers!

Abdullah Khalid

September 20, 2008 - 4:24pm

Okay!
problem was with Flock 2.0b3 itself. i did the following:

1. purged it, uninstalled along with all configuration files, then installed from Ubuntu's repositories, version 2.0b3, problem is still there.

2. removed it yet again, downloaded the tar.gz file from flock.com, Version 2.0b2, tried it, and voila! file upload works like a charm!

i can use this, and i know bugs ARE the point of Beta after all, but i would have liked to install from the repos.. will look for an older version again..

can you please note this for a future fix?

thank you for the help!

When i re-install and delete my old version of flock where do the picture's go that are in the uploader? Do i loose them or are they saved somewhere on my computer??

Jen Anderberg

September 22, 2008 - 9:18am

@ kathy: In your first post, you mentioned an error message. Do you remember what it said? Also, what version of Flock were you on when you got this error?

As for your last comment, as far as I know it will delete the photos you have in the Uploader. Were these photos not actually uploaded to a website, they were just sitting there and then you uninstalled Flock?

Please let me know and we will go from there.

Thanks!

The pictures in the uploader (but not uploaded yet) are stored in your profile. So you can delete and reinstall Flock, as soon as you don't delete your profile they will still be there.
