Are there any hacks to remove favicons from the topbar? Or anyway I can remove them in about:config? I just prefer the all text version of the old 0.5 topbar.
thanks,
Rob

The best way to do this is:
Get a Mac!
The Mac version does not have the favicons in the Bookmarks toolbar.
Jokes aside, this would be a nice feature to be able to turn on/off in both platforms.
I know this thread is VERY old but I'm sure others will look for an answer as I did. Here is the best and quickest solution I found. You don't have to install the theme, just follow what he says which is as easy as copying and pasting. Scroll down to the bottom of the page until you see a section called "Modifications". Click on the link and follow the instructions for your platform (Windows or Mac).

There's a cheaper way than getting a Mac!
In you profile, in the "chrome" directory, edit (or create) the file userChrome.css and add these lines:
toolbarbutton.favorite-item image.toolbarbutton-icon {
display: none !important;
}
...the favicons will disappear from the favorites toolbar.

I have tried this with v 1.0.1 and the toolbar favicons are still there.
Other ideas?
