If you are technically savvy and want to give it a try, go to http://tinderbox.flock.com to check the build status, and click on Download Continuous Test Builds. If you have tried the previous versions, the technology previews, you may be surprised by how much Flock has improved.
Look for the next release of Flock in the cereal aisle in May.
I love it so far, have been surfing and posting with "
build_id: 1146291963.3847" since about an hour now. Great. Looking forward to Cardinal, even though I will most likely then have more than four browser installed: IE, Mozilla Firefox, Flock Cardinal, Flock Latest build, Opera. Possibly IE7 for testing purposes. But my heart belongs to Flickr...

I've been trying the continuous testing builds of Flock and in the last few days I've seen my CPU usage skyrocket... I dont know if this is a known issue or not, but its made Flock nearly unusable. Is anyone else experiencing this issue?

I started the continuous testing build of Flock since this morning and it has crashed once with only one window open. I got this message windows before crashing:
"Flock.exe has detected a problem and must be closed. If you are in the middle of a process, you could lose all the information you are working with. Advise Microsoft of this problem. A report of errors has been created that you can send us. We will consider it anonymous and confidential."
RADICAL DREAMER:
I haven't noticed any problems regarding my CPU's usage. Will monitor that closer.
Have noticed a tremendous improvement in photo sharing features.

No. I use what Flock offers, which is del.cio.us. After my last post, I've been checking my CPU's performance displaying the Task Administrator window and it's running fine. As I write this comment, the CPU's percentage usage ranges between 0 to 6%, which I would say is normal.
I've had similar start up problems, I use the shadows bookmark sharing program. It seems to work better if I use the Flock in my task bar list of programs rather than my quick link. (I think thats just weird :P)
As for new Flock, Yippee such a great browser! (Still had the strange firefox problem of the disappearing search sites on the top though :( )
Spell checker is beautiful, look at the correct spelling in this post!
I've been downloading the testing builds for a while now and the improvements to the features are great. Cardinal looks amazing.
The only issue I have is the cpu usage which goes way up to near 100% when flock is open on my pc. That one has delicious set up with about 250 favourites in it.
On the other one I have it installed on which has no favourites in and no online bookmarking account set up the cpu usage is back down to normal.
chall3ng3r, we have not made a decision about that. I would be surprised if that is included in this release. Earlier Mozilla releases had a pre-loader: it was somewhat buggy and there were mixed responses from users.
I dislike my applications forcing pre=loaders on me. When I do reboot, I prefer it to be snappy.
I agree with Mozzy, I also prefer the orginal topbar version with the selecter on the left and the maps, shelf and photos part of the topbar. Vey dissapointing to see the topbar become less user friendly, its one of the main reasons I use Flock.
That is a hefty assertion. Not that I disagree with you, but if myself or another member of the community is to argue your point, you will have to back it up.
Some problems with the previous design:
* Discoverability
* What happens when there are lots of topbars?
* What happens when there are lots of collections?
The latest build is definitely growing on me. I really like the web snippets. Any chance of an option to disable the favicons on the collections topbar? Space is precious there and some favicons are just plain ugly!

Zim, yes, although it isn't there yet. you will be able to disable favicons in cardinal in the toolbar.
Chris, I've been investigating del.icio.us sync issues (that is what is causing the high CPU usage). If you have a chance can you try out the buzzard release (0.5.15) -- similar problems? (email me jesse@flock.com about your results)
Will we be able to change the order of collections in the favorites manager in Cardinal? Currently I dont see a way to do it without manually changing them all.

Wow! Can't wait. I'm heading over to the builds page now. Rock on F(l)ockers! Coming to India any time soon? I'd like to Meet The Flockers.

Omar,
Are you using a bookmark sharing service? Some others have told me that might be the issue for the latest builds.

it's getting better!!! :)

sorry for double posting...
what did you decided about integrating "FireFox Preloader" kind of thing with Flock?
i guess it would be one the best features of Flock.

It would be a great extension.
hmm...I just checked out the latest build. To be honest I am missg the look and feel of the topbar from version .5.x
Also I am missing the shelf which is ne of the main reasons I actually use flock. It always has been a good companion to me in researches.
I agree with Mozzy, I also prefer the orginal topbar version with the selecter on the left and the maps, shelf and photos part of the topbar. Vey dissapointing to see the topbar become less user friendly, its one of the main reasons I use Flock.
The Shelf is still there, it is now called Web Snippets, and is accessible primarly through the status bar.
Until the User Guide is updated, here is a link to the design document.
Less user friendly?

Thanks Jesse, glad to hear that option will be available.
