The Cardinal release is really coming together -- the team has been working very hard. With Thursday's Milestone 8 build, we feel that the Photobar, Photo Uploader, Blogging, Favorites, and Web Snippets are nearly complete, modulo some small bug fixes or integration of feedback we're still receiving from the community and usability sessions. Now would be a good time to give them a thorough workout, if you've been holding back!
We still have some substantial changes to make to News, Search, the First-Run Experience, and Configuration, which we're hoping to complete most of by Milestone 9 (Tuesday, May 16th) and certainly Milestone 10 (Thursday, May 18th), at which point we will be trying to build our first release candidate.
If you haven't had a chance to download a recent build, please do so, and give us your feedback (and file bugs)! Flock will only be as great as the input we receive.
If you have any questions or suggestions, please send them to our lists, post in our forums, or feel free to send them to me or Lloyd directly. Thanks everybody for your work helping out -- we couldn't do it without you!

Hello Mark:
Thanks for giving us your plans for Cardinal. I'm looking forward to see what it will be like. I've been sending my feedbacks to your link and have received several messages from Lloyd D. Budd. I'm using build Milestone 8 and have encountered a couple of crashes with it.
As soon as Milestone 9 is ready will give it a whirl and so on until Milestone 10.
I can see your people are burning the midnight oil.
Regards,
Omar.-
Hi Mark:
It's me again. Just to let you know that as soon as I post my comment the following messages comes up:
"user error: Table 'www.spam_surbl_cctlds' doesn't exist
query: SELECT ccid FROM spam_surbl_cctlds WHERE cc = 'livejournal.com' in /var/www/html/feeds.flock.com/includes/database.mysql.inc on line 66.
warning: Cannot modify header information - headers already sent by (output started at /var/www/html/feeds.flock.com/includes/common.inc:384) in /var/www/html/feeds.flock.com/includes/common.inc on line 192."
At first I thought my comment was not accepted, however it was. This issue has also been raised by several other users.
Just wanted you to know, since it's a little confusing.
Regards,
Omar.-
The wait is killing me, and I don't want to upgrade until Cardinal comes out. Right now I'm still in Firefox mode since Flock tends to go four times slower, but I'm assuming it'll be better in the big release?
So when's it gonna come out? I'll take anything, estimated dates, definate deadlines, it's up to you.
JUST MAKE IT SOON PLEASE :'(
Hey Omar,
Sorry, the comment posting form is throwing errors right now. Comments are showing up, so ignore the error and no need to double post.
Daryl's on vacation this week, he'll tidy it up once he gets back.
I'd turn it off in the meantime, but getting comment spammed or having to moderate comments are both slightly less desirable than the error.
J2,
We're planning to release this month.
It is true: at the moment there are quite a few crashes and also Flock does seem to be slightly slower - but hey, I can live witht that :) Looking forward to Cardinal...
This is a minor point but has the Collections selecter permanently been moved to the right side? Im just so used to it being on the left side in 0.5. I think it looks clumsy on the right.
Also will we be to rearrange collections in the favorites manager soon in Cardinal with drag and drop or something similar?
Also will we be able to rearrange collections in the favorites manager soon in Cardinal with drag and drop or something similar?
YES to what Zim said. Drag and drop in the Favorites Manager would be awesome.
I have been using Flock since the beginning and it is coming along very nicely. In fact, I have replaced Firefox with Flock! But, my default and favorite broswer is still Opera. What are the chances Flock will incorporate some Opera features?
Sid:
Could you be more specific about "some Opera features"?
Regards,
Omar.-
What Opera features would improve Flock the most?

Flock is coming along nicely. I abandoned it for a few months but quickly realized that I just could NOT live without the history/favorites LIVE search within the search box. One question regarding the new "Extend" functionality and the new Drupal-based "Community..." are these aspects supposed to be live with the Release Candidates or will we not see these until further down the road? I can't WAIT to get some new extensions for the updated versions of Flock. Continue the great work.
One more thing to add: click and drag rearrangement of faves in the favorites toolbar, please?
Keep up the good schtuffs, Flock is already my default browser.
"click and drag rearrangement of faves in the favorites toolbar, please?"
I believe that we can rearrange favorites on the faves toolbar right now. Maybe I'm just tired, but I'm fairly sure this has working in recent builds.
Celia and Chris Vance:
Re: Click and drag rearrangement of faves in the Favorites toolbar, please?
You can do that right now. I just checked it out in my computer. I'm using Milestone No. 8 and it rocks!
Cheers,
Omar.-
Just got #8 going now, thanks, you guys are right. I'm also liking the new photobar too...vast improvements!
Can we have an option (with the ability to turn on and off in the options menu) to open all new typed URL`S in a new tab? Rather than have to open a new tab or use an existing tab. This new "untitled tab" whats the point of that if we can just open something directly in a new tab? I dont like that option at ALL as the tab bar is on all the time. Give the users more options to set up Flock how they want, dont force annoying stuff on them please!
Regarding opening typed URLs in a new tab: This is certainly an interesting suggestion. I personally am used to pressing Ctrl-T to open a new tab and typing the URL (the address bar is selected when a new tab is first opened).
This might also work as an extension, which would provide the ability to open the current URL in a new tab when the Enter key was pressed in the address bar.
Regarding "the tab bar is on all the time": The tab bar can be turned off when only one web site is open. To do this, click Tools->Options... and in the Tab section, check the "Hide the tab bar when only one web site is open" box.
More options are good unless they're for features the user does not care about. More options are good until they overwhelm the user with tweaks that they don't care about. More options are good until the developers guessed wrong and chose a default which does not work for most people, annoying the end users and forcing them to figure out how to turn off the damn thing so they can go about their business.
Sometimes fewer options can be a good thing.
Hello guys! Well if I seem to be in a perky mood its cos I have been "playing" with Flock 0.15.0 on my mac and its awesomely good (cool I made up an adjective!) I last used Flock some months ago, but today I found myself back here and downloading the latest release. When I also found out that I could install AdBlock and SessionSaver and that they worked flawlessly well that was the end of FX for me!! The 1st thing that struck me, after using Camino and FX, is its beautiful clean icons and interface. Plus I love all of the features, and the speed! I find it ironic that some people here were complaining about the speed but perhaps that only happens on a Windows machine. My, old but trusty, eMac is handling it with ease and after several hours of useage everything seems great and there hasn't been 1 crash! Not 1!! But now that I have sessionsaver installed and working I don't care if it kicks the bucket!! Thanks guys for this awesome browser and it looks like that I joined the party just in time. I can't wait for the Cardinal version. Best of luck and bye for now.
Regarding "the tab bar is on all the time": The tab bar can be turned off when only one web site is open. To do this, click Tools->Options... and in the Tab section, check the "Hide the tab bar when only one web site is open" box.
For some reason I never noticed this in the options menu, thanks for bringing it to my attention. My personal feeling is why not have a perfectly simple option to open all tabs directly in a new tab. It should be a basic browser option. Should we really need an extension for something so basic in the era of tabbed browsing?
Adding a test comment.
Has anyone gotten Google Notebook to work on Flock? I'm using a nightly build and even the Flock'd version wont fly...
Re: Google Notebook.
My guess is that the Firefox XPI extension could be tweaked to be compatible with Flock, given that they are using the same Gecko codebase. I am too tired to look into this tonight.
You can still use the basic Google Notebook interface in Flock; you just won't have the extension for right now.
I'm just curious if there will be a way to use the new Yahoo! Homepage in Flock in the next release? Currently, and I assumed because it's built from 1.6(?), you can only use the old 1997-looking Yahoo! homepage.
Hi. I just installed Flock on my Ubuntu-Linux-64bit Computer after playing around (and loving it) on my Windows machine.
I'm glad to see a new release is on its way. One Request, actually make it work on Linux please. Currenlty, its nothing more than another browser since I can't edit the toolbars, and can't post to my blogs sinc e it causes flock to crash.
please help.
Here's a suggestion: add an extension compatibility mode, similar to the compatibility mode in Windows or similar, where one can install extensions regardless of their compatibility parameters (add a warning that it may cause instability or w/e, or even keep it hidden from most end users by throwing it into about:config)...
Man...Flock is slow as hell. I sure nhope your'e gonna work that out. Because right now, it's like the ultimate bloatware.
Guys, I just want to say how sweet My News is getting in the latest builds.
Any news at to when a favicon remove / disable option is coming for collections?
Hi Flockers:
Echo with Robster regarding My News looks. The new icons also went to the beauty parlor, e.g. My News, Photos and Home. They look so cute. I'm now using Flock 0.7.0.10.0.
You guys are doing a real fine job. Flock rocks!
Regards,
Omar.-
Hi! Just got the update loaded in (.10) and I love the new look of My News (echo Omar and Robster), but I prefered the old toolbar icons for the pics and news I must say...
Just a sugestion to make regarding the collections.
I love the slide function on the Photos topbar (beautiful and simple) how about something similar for collections? I think for storing local Flock favorites (which personally I prefer to do rather than store online) something similar using tags search and a scroller would be a cool way to go. Rather than the back to folders approach which I thought Flock had tried in the past to get away from.
In response to the above, can you not search your favourites in the manner you describe from the search field in the browser? I mean the collections toolbar is optional for those who prefer that way of organisation (such as myself). Wouldn't a topbar be a built bulky for searching favourites?
Chico -- we have received intermittent reports of slowness for some configurations but haven't seen a reproducible case. Can you give us more information on your configuration, what Flock services you've configured, etc.?
Two comments: While the new icons are nice, I really prefer the old round ones. The round ones fit in so well with the Flock star, now hmmm not so well. I really dont think its an improvement to the Flock theme. I love the original theme. Cant we have both?!
Also sites that have RSS feeds in Favorites are pretty hard to recognise by name and look messy, I hope thats going to be sorted for the beta release?
Hi, I'm Turkish science communicator.rüya tabirleri I like very very much Nature Podcast.
Congratulations!
It is good, and it is time to choose that every one wants to earn much money, but senior players is not a blind, one time they will come back. In order to play the game well, so I have to buy the silk road gold, I use them can buy a lot of things what I want. And I can buy props and equipment to become stronger, but it is only the senior players can do it.
