Dear Flock users blogging on blogger.com,

As you maybe know, Google just released a beta of their blogging service Blogger. It offers a few new features, and still have some bugs; but more important as many of you noticed it is not supported by Flock’s current release. Indeed, Flock uses the Atom API to publish to Blogger blogs, but Google seems to have dropped support for this API.

The new blog do not advertise any API in their field, and trying to use the good old API link (https://www.blogger.com/atom) did not work. By doing research on the problem today, I discovered a note on the Atom API Documentation announcing that the Atom API will be deprecated in favor to the Blogger/GData API.

At Flock, we were as surprised as you to see this compatibility break. We recommand to use the current version of Blogger (not the beta) to be able to publish from Flock. We are sorry for all our users who are unable to use Flock to post to their Blogger beta blog, and are studying the APIs provided by the new beta to figure out the fastest way we can bring you full support for these blogs.

;P

Hey Erwin! Sorry no one contacted you about the API changes. We try to keep up on as many of the apps that use the Blogger API as we can.

Anyway, Atom support isn't dropped, it's just been changed to Gdata/Atom 1.0 (instead of Atom 0.3). Should be small differences overall, though you'll need to support the Google Accounts authentication scheme.

Are you on the Blogger developers mailing list? There was an announcement sent out about the API changes to that. http://groups.google.com/group/bloggerDev

We also posted an update to the (now defunct) http://code.blogger.com/ blog.

I just started using Flock between a switchover to the blogger beta! :(

I hope you guys get this resolved on the Sept 7 update!

Actually, it seems not to be working with the non-beta version as well.
I used to have it working, but when trying to post today - I get an "oops..." error, so I tried deleting the account - and re-adding it. Adding my blogger account failed miserably, as it is not able to detect my blog settings.

I had a few problems adding my non-blogger-beta blog but in the end it was as simple as adding a / to the end of my blogspot URI.

If that's not the problem Mich, check out the Flock forums, there's been a bit of discussion about this problem there and a few different fixes offered.

Good luck.

I will be waiting...
I like your product!

Still waiting too

Update: I've just committed the support for GAuth/GData into the development version, so it will be in 0.8.

Don't rush to Blogger beta yet, it will not work for 0.7. The way Google is using for authentication if very good (get a token once and pass it to each query), but we didn't take this approach into account in 0.7's architecture. Consequently we can't add support for blogger beta without making major changes in 0.7.

The good news is that we will have support for one of Blogger's new features ;) guess which one...

Pete: thank you for posting here! I've been looking at http://groups.google.com/group/bloggerDev, it's very active and a great source of information.

mich: these days the non-beta api has been down often (something like "there's a problem on the server, a engineer has been contacted and is fixing it") and we were not doing a very good job at displaying a meaningful error. Sorry for that.

I will be waiting. hope this happens soon

I hope this is fixed soon. I have gone back to Firefox and Camino for working on my blogs.

Why post a link to your blog in a public forum if members of the public are excluded from reading it?

But no matter, the game is forever my favorite. Especially, silkroad gold that I often buy a lot. The gold is very important, because if I have it I can be strong.
