Bill Luhtala

Design Lead

Bill Luhtala, working from the Flock North office, is the yang to Lead Designer Tim Taylor's yin, providing the muscle to back up the crazy schemes dreamed up in the Flock Marketing Department.

Bill grew up in the curiously-named Ladysmith, BC, where he spent a lot of time playing street hockey ("Car! Game off.") and trying to copy the comic art of Jack Kirby and Steve Ditko. He's since filed approximately 9.7 trillion pieces of paper with sketches which are now being recycled to construct advanced, secret Eco Villages off-world...but, uh...don't tell anyone we said that.

Bill has worked on a broad scope of web, print, interactive and other media projects for employers such as Adobe Systems, Clover Point Applications, Mercurial Communications, Sasktel/Navigata, the City of Calgary, the University of Calgary, Industry Canada, Education On Line and the Royal Canadian Mint.

Bill prefers trucks over cars, and likes to get outside, have fun with his family, abuse technology with his electric guitars, illustrate impossible ideas, swim in the ocean and to play in experimental rock bands whenever possible.

Some of Bill's favorite artists are The Mermen, Tool, the Cramps, Southern Culture on the Skids, King Crimson, Sex Pistols, Peter Gabriel, Bauhaus, Pink Floyd, Primus, XTC, Gang of Four, B-52’s, Captain Beefheart, ELP, Kate Bush, Stan Ridgway, Battles, and Barney the Dinosaur. Ok, we made that last one up, and now Bill's mad. Now he's totally going to draw a Jack Kirby-style mustache on all our photos.
