Chief Good Girl
Stella overcame great adversity to attain her position as Chief Good Girl at Flock. Distraught by the lover who left her and overwhelmed by caring for her new twin girls, Stella's mother left her daughters to the care of the King County Humane Society in Bellvue, WA. After just one week, Stella's sister was then taken from her by a family with only enough love in their hearts for one puppy. Cold, alone, and plagued by the cacophony of barks from the older dogs (who never quite came to terms with their abandonment), Stella withdrew into a quiet depression that lasted seven times longer than the typical depression in humans her age.
Little did she know that hope loomed just around the corner. On a cold rainy day in February 2004, Stella was adopted by co-founder, Geoffrey Arone, who taught her that there was more to life than chasing her tail. Before long, Stella learned how to sit, lay down, and sit by the door when she had to go out. Stella regained her confidence, learned to create meaningful relationships, and realized that she had the power within to change her life and motivate others.
Not content to relish in her own personal achievements, Stella took to motivating her master with long accounts of the individuation that helped her through her darkest moments. Unrelenting, she succeeded in convincing her master to quit his job at RealNetworks and to start Flock with Bart Decrem. Since the earliest days, Stella has been the quiet dog behind the team, never once taking credit for the success of the organization and always happy to cheer up the team. She has also renounced the material lifestyle of the Bay Area and has chosen to work for biscuits and long walks with her new beau Kujo.
