2008 was a great year for Flock. We launched Flock 2.0, added integration with MySpace, Digg and WebMail, secured new funding and received numerous awards. And we reached an important milestone: Flock has been downloaded over 6 million times. While our technical accomplishments, partnerships and kudos from bloggers and the press mean a great deal to us, the most gratifying accomplishments of the year came from you, the people that use Flock every day.
Together you‘ve made over 41 million log-ins across applications like Facebook, MySpace, YouTube, Flickr and Twitter. You’ve accessed nearly seven million photos and videos using the Media Bar and 25 million feeds via the Feeds Sidebar. You’ve stayed in touch with your friends by collectively loading more than 150 million people each and every month into the People Sidebar! And you’ve made almost one million blog posts using Flock. What you value inspires our direction and you’ve rewarded us by using Flock in record numbers. And by telling your friends about Flock. Your recommendations have been invaluable and, by our estimates, have contributed to more than 90% of our growth in 2008! You continue to show us that we’re on the right track.
We know what is driving your use of Flock. Your life isn’t slowing down. You’re engaged and more social than ever before. You want to know what’s going on and there’s a lot you want to share. You’ve got more friends and you want to make sure you don’t miss a thing. And sometimes that can be a bit much. No worries. That’s how we’ll continue to help, by making it easier for you to stay connected, but never tethered or walled in.
With a new year comes new opportunity and the entire Flock team is off and running to make 2009 great. We’ll continue to go where your needs take us, and we’ll do it by maintaining our commitment to innovation. While ‘traditional’ values like quality are important to us, Flock isn’t like your parents’ browser. At Flock we have a new world view of the browser and it’s all about you.
We’ll continue to innovate and find better ways to help you connect with the people, information and things you care about. But you’re the best source of inspiration for Flock, so keep visiting the site and letting us know what you think and what you need. After all, at Flock it will always be all about you.
Thank you for a tremendous 2008!

I will admit that I rarely visit the site, but Flock itself is invaluable. If I didn't use Flock, I wouldn't have discovered Twitter, and my waning social integration has flourished again because Flock makes it easy.
I just started using Flock in December, thanks to a blogging friend of mine.
Since then I not once have used another browser (and I did love FF something fierce).
I even got my husband using Flock and he always switched back to IE before (don't ask!).
I love it and I want to say thanks this way!
Cheers from Hungary :)
I visit the site fairly regularly, even helped out a few people with problems and made some suggestions. Flock has actually gotten me to blog a few times because of how easy it is, I've uploaded more photos, I've kept current with my friends photos and other media and I've kept more up to date with software than I would have otherwise.
Without Flock, I never would have found Ubuntu and I would still be using Windows. I've even gone so far as to defend Flock on some forums, mention it on CNet when the subject fit and suggest to at least one of the CNet bloggers that he try it before declaring Chrome to be the most innovative browser around.
I use Flock daily for many things.I especially like the RSS reader feature. It helps me keep up to date with everything very well. One problem I've recently encountered though...When I attempt to "Organize Favorites" by bringing up the organize favorites window there is now NOTHING listed? What happened to them? I can still access favorites via the favorites toolbar but can't organize them. If I re-load Flock will I lose all my favorites for good?
Besides pulling my hair out about that..."Flock-On".
*I tell everyone I know to get "Flocked". :-) ☧⚡ ☮ ☯ ♡⚡
I love Flock. Now if only they would fix the issue with sound in videos (as in there is none) for Ubuntu users. It's going to drive me back to FF if it's not fixed soon.
I use Flock mostly for Facebook. It's a vastly superior interface than Opera, my other main browser. But Facebook's dominance of Flock in my usage may be an impediment to using it for other things, other social networking for instance. I'd like to see a more modular arrangement evolve similar to the deal FB and CNN have. Why not mix content from different social networking sites on the same page?
@ Nicole
IE sucks! 2009 is the Flock Year!

I started using Flock last month and am extremely impressed. I have a couple of suggestions. My partner spends a lot of time on social networking sites focused on knitting (see for example: https://www.ravelry.com/account/login) - I think there is a whole target audience there would would love the simplicity of flock. Also how about links to the Internet Movie Database?

The stats you cite are really impressive! Especially if you consider the fact that the competition is very active and has access to more resources than you guys.
I always bet on the underdog, assuming the underdog knows what he's doing... you guys sure do! I wish you all the best and I'm sure you'll double these numbers in 2009 :)
Flock really needs to work on speed and managing resources. Even though I have 3GB ram, I still don't want my browser using 500MB RAM. Its a browser not Photoshop. That's one of my complains and why I stopped using flock. I'm using Chrome now. It has a clean UI and if anything, Flock can learn a thing or two from Chrome.
All the best with your project!
It would be nice if there could be an emoticon for "flock-on". That way, I could add it to facebook and twitter
Flock is the best. I've been using it for over a year now, and I love the integration with tools like Twitter and Facebook. I do a lot of twittering and blogging, and I find it makes my life so much easier. I also run a website where I help people answer the question "Why is my computer so slow?" - it's still a work in progress, but one of the things I plan to recommend is that folks stop using IE and look at Flock, especially if they plan to do social networking. Go FLOCK!
I just downloaded the FLOCK browser and I really love it. I especially love the clipboard feature and how much it simplifies placing photos/media in blogger.
As for all the social networks, that's another great feature that I enjoy using. I wondered though if there were any plans to integrate Stumble Upon into the people bar?
Months ago I got a lot of trouble with IE, I looking for another web browser, last night I download Flock. I use it last night, it's great! I like using it, it's fast and everything I try all 're good! Thank you Flock. I going to tell my friend Flock browser.
Thank you.
Thanks to everyone for the very kind words, you rock!
@Doug: Shoot me an email about your issue and we'll try to resolve it.
@Chris: I think those are great ideas, and I'd encourage you to post them to our GetSatisfaction page. Others can vote for them there so we'll know how many people are into the idea!
@Enrique: Have you tried Flock 2? It should be significantly more performant. Disabling extensions also helps; they can take a lot of memory.
@Ted: That's awesome, thanks for recommending Flock! Shoot me an email and I will get you swagged out.
@Phyllis: No plans for StumbleUpon right now, but you should go post your idea on our GetSatisfaction page. Others can vote there too and so we'll be able to tell how many people are interested in this feature.

(sorry about my English, I'm Brazilian)
I always recommend Flock to everyone, this browser is awesome!
There is one thing that flock needs... Orkut in peoples sidebar. Because Facebook and MySpace isn't famous here... =/
Anyway, congratulations!!!
Iam eager to join.
Hi,
When will there be others languages flock versions for the Flock 2?
For example French.
Thank you. :-)
@Vinicius: I'll log your vote for Orkut!
@Bloo: Definitely. We've been trying to get some Flock 2 localizations out for awhile but have ran into a few setbacks. I *hope* to see them out this month.

Sorry, but I'm not interested in using a browser that tracks my every movement and reports back.
Just found Flock this weekend and once I had it up and running quickly felt this will be my new choice for web browsing. As a web designer though, I really need to use Firebug and the Web Developers Toolkit extensions and see they are not available... yet? How can we get the development community to create these so Flock can truly compete with Firefox?
Thanks again,
Cory
@Brian: Flock doesn't track your every movement. We do have a usage tracking program that tracks how you interact with the browser, but it does not send back your history and is completely anonymous. If you're not a fan of this feature, you can turn it off during installation (just run the installer again to get back to it).
@Cory: Most Firefox extensions work in Flock. I don't know for sure, but I"m pretty sure Firebug and WDT work in Flock. Give them a try and see if they do!

Flock sounds like a great browser. What does Brian mean about it "tracking his every movement and reporting back"?
Thanks for the great browser! I decided to check it out again after a few months, and I love the integration. Makes account management a ton easier. =)
I'd love to see integration with mediafire.com or another file hosting service. The photo hosting services are great (flickr and tinypic), but I'd love to see integration with something like mediafire.
Hello Shawn Hardin and Evan,
My personal opinion is that, Flock Grew The Most In 2008. May be I think this because I myself really started to use flock in the beginning of this year. And I have seen so many of my friends, starting to use Flock in 2008, too.
At least for me, 2008 was a great year, and one of the reasons were that I found Flock :)
Thank You to All Flock Team
Regards
Orkut in Brazil is very famous.... we gonna be very satifact with the integration Flock+Orkut.
But congratulations to a Flock developer team!

This is the best browser around. I use mac book and while safari is a good browser, Flock is just fantastic! I use it now more than I use safari, mozilla, or even opera which is another browser I like. It is just a faster browser that makes life and socializing that much easier! Keep up the good work!
Just download flock today and I love it! It's definitely way better than google chrome, with all due respect to chrome users. Tried chrome, can;t even stand it for more than few hours. can't stand safari and IE either :) Love love love love Flock!!! Especially since u got the integration with all the social sites and everything :)
hello i just downloaded flock browser and found it to be an excellent browser the colors are great plus its very fast and support all the social sites
wish u goodluck n future
The Flock browser is great, and I use it at home each day, but more importantly I think it's the biggest step in advancing browser design and real-life functionality in a long time. I remember people noting how cool it was that Safari had a built-in Google search when it appeared -- what will they think of this when they see it (and can appreciate it)??? And the best part -- this will open the door to true innovation in what we expect from a browser and how quickly we can access our regular web sites.
Go on futher 2009 ;)
Flock is great. I've been using it for over a year now, and I love the integration with tools like Twitter and Facebook. I do a lot of twittering and blogging, and I find it makes my life so much easier.

Thats a great one. Enjoyed reading it thanks.
I started using flock in October, and have not looked back since. I even got a load of friends using it.
Thanks very much for all your hard work!

I think that it is great you guys are doing so well and even more glad to hear that 2008 was great. Let's hope that 2009 is even better! :D
I agree 2008 was great but 2009 will be awesome :)
Flock is definitely better than IE. But for the moment FF with its plugins provides all necessary functions I need.
Anyway good luck for the year 2009.
Great achievement guys in 2008. I can't wait to see what you have in store for us this year.

Just found out about Flock lately. What can i say? Browser that puts everything together? put all those other nifty features that are separated away. Flock rules!

Flock is so cool, it just makes things like Twittering and Digging soooo much easier. Thanks for the hard work guys. :)
Flock is one of the boldest and daring moves in browser world. What I love most about it is that it's built on Mozilla code base making it cross compatible. Very clever guys! Thumbs up for that... :)
I love the access I have to my Gmail, Twitter, Facebook and Flickr accounts direct from Flock... However I just cant seem to get Roboform to work with version 2.0.3.... So i dont use it as much as I would like...
Any ideas on how to get Roboform working and Im a complete Flock convert..
I know Flock only two months,I like it and congratulation for its sucess.
The newly released FLV to MP3 converter is obviously a breakthrough in the whole FLV audio to MP3 formats field. not merely because it can feel free to convert FLV to MP3, but aslo its suprising MP3 converting output formats.
I think that Flock is surely going to be a great thing, I predict that many users will download it and use it as their favorite web browser. My 2 cents, Mike
